it is severe morning sickness, that often has women hospitalised as they can not keep anything down.

It is extreme morning sickness that often lasts the entire pregnancy is my understanding of it. THere is a support thread on here for those women who suffer it. It is a bugger of a thing to have - and that's probably an understatement! Many women end up being hospitalised for IV fluids because they can't stop vomiting.

That sounds just awful, thanks ladies. A young girl I'm friends with has it, I'll let her know there is a support group, thanks again.

I had it and can answer any specific questions if you have them, Dianne just PM me but in short it is a debilitating condition during pregnancy causing excessive vomitting, dehydration, nausea, massive weight loss, it generally lasts the entire pregnancy but may not. It also comes in varying degrees.

Yep, we have a support group on here- its not very active atm and there is one I am a part of on FB too.

Ive just been told I have HG. I spent 2 days on a drip in hospital this past weekend because I had not kept down any food or water in days and my body was showing strong signs of dehydration and starvation. They determined that I had HG because I had a high number of ketones on my urine, was very weak and because the drugs I was given to stop the vomiting were no longer working. I was in a position where I could not re-hydrate myself anymore because the more water I drank the more I vomited. I believe my m/s turned into HG only last week, because before that I could keep down food/water in the mornings only.

I was also told that HG usually lasts until 20w but for many it lasts the entire pg. I had HG with DS2, but it did go away by 20w.

    I hope this helps.

Where does one find the support thread for this?

Ive suffered this with all of my pregnancies, Reids was the worst.

I was thinking I was going to get away with it this time but was laid up on the lounge all day yesterday with a severe headache and nausea which led to vomiting so I think this pregnancy isn't going to be any different.

    Fingers crossed though!
