    Hemorrhoids during pregnancy

Yep, TMI but I discovered I have a hemorrhoid this morning at 39 weeks pregnant. I noticed a bit of stinging /pain down there overnight and had a feel in the shower this morning. Low and behold.. I have one. I never got one with my first pregnancy. It feels like a soft lump hanging out..

What do I do!? How do I treat it?? Will it get worse when I give birth with all the pushing and stuff?

Most importantly, do I need to rest up between now and the birth, I.e limited standing up etc? Want to milk out any help I need from hubs to get DS organized in the morning and evenings!!

    Help!

they are awful hun. Get some Proctosedyl or Rectinol (why do they have horrible names as well??!!) or go the chemist and see what they recommend, pretty sure they are all safe externally for pregnancy. The standing etc doesn't make a difference but you want to up your fibre intake so you aren't straining when you do go to the toilet hun. xoxox Hope it heals quickly. I never got any until after I was pg with both of mine.

Put some coconut oil on it a couple of times a day. Drink lots of water & dont strain in the loo. I got one with DS1 but it went away with coconut oil.

Wow L&B the more I hear about coconut oil the more it makes me think I need to go get some. Off to start a new thread so I don't derail here!

So it's been a couple days since the discover of 'my little friend' and I've been doing more kegel exercises and have found that it is going back in a little and not hurting so much. I've got some haemorrhoid cream which is a good topical anaesthetic too. Haven't tried the coconut oil yet but will get some of that this weekend.

I'm a bit worried about how its all going to be down there in general after bubs arrives because my first birth had me with a 2nd degree and stitches but I came right in the end. At least this time I'm prepared for what its all going to feel like post partum now!!

    Thanks again for your help!

I've been fine through pregnancy each time, but had trouble about 3-5 days after delivery with the last three. OUCH. Since the first time, I've asked my midwives for a prescription for good cream (proctofoam here in Canada - stuff works wonders!) before I deliver, so I'm all set for afterwards, just in case. That way I can get relief right away, without having to go see the midwife/doctor/chemist afterwards when I'm feeling lousy.

Hope yours goes away and stays away!

I never had problems with mine for birth but it's worth mentioning to your midwife just in case it becomes an issue. I've never tried coconut oil but the chemist's creams worked well for me and as PP's have said, loads of water and don't strain on the toilet.

It's better. I can still feel it when I wipe after a #2 so being careful. Will wait until after bubs is born and reasses. I probably won't be able to tell what normal for a while down there until it all heals and the swelling subsides anyway. But for now the pain has gone and I don't notice it unless I'm pooping

Will let you know how I get in post-partum. Maybe I should name the little thing!

Just wanted to update this thread for those who are experiencing the same probs with hemorrhoids as me. I'm almost 4 weeks post partum and I think the little bugger has finally gone. I did use soov cream for pain relief for a while, but it's definitely not there anymore. so I guess it resolved on its own.

Thanks all for your help and advice. My bottom and I thank you
