What have you told people who guessed you were pregnant, before 12 weeks?

    Just thought I'd ask..
I'm seeing a friend today and she guessed last time I was pregnant before 7weeks, obviously I told its still early and we are waiting till 12 weeks.
She guessed because I asked for water instead if a cup of tea! I initially tried to tell her I had already had one before I saw her, but then she said but your skin looks great! (must have looked crap before!)

What little white porkies have you told?

I would tell people that I had a slight urine infection. No more questions were ever asked, haha!

That I've been run off my feet with DD and eating badly, gained some weight. I hide my belly pretty well by there are times it's undeniable. I find when you say you've gained weight people just feel awkward and drop it

I guessed a friend of mine was pregnant about 6 weeks ago and she just swore blind she had tested and she wasn't, and also that she had caught a stomach bug which was why she was pale, nauseated and tired. She is now 12 weeks pregnant Of course I forgave her, so if you want to just boldly lie then nobody will blame you

    Congrats on your pregnancy!

I'd just come back from an overseas trip so was able to write it off as Bali belly and vertigo from the plane trip. A few people guessed when I stocked the work drawer with 2-min noodles and lemon sherbets but luckily they kept it to themselves

Not an exact lie but I told them
I had a dental infection and was on antibiotics. I was on abs and had a dental infection but the reason I was so sick was being pregnant!

With DS1, I'd give them either the death stare, or the wounded puppy look, and make a comment about how I'm trying to *lose* a couple of kilos, and did I really look that bad? Shuts them up super quick!!

With DS2, I'd look at them incredulously, and point out that DS1 had only *just* turned one!

I found not having alcohol was easy enough to hide - I'd get a great big elaborate mocktail (ordered at the bar, so no one heard me asking for a virgin drink!) and people would assume it was a ****tail, or I'd get a diet coke or soda water with lime in a short tumbler, and people would assume there was whiskey or gin or whatever in it.

The hardest thing for me was coffee - I *love* my coffee and (embarassingly) I used to have easily 7-15 cups a day ... and I have it black and straight, and people see it sitting there on my desk. So I would make one (the smell was just awful in those first 20 weeks!!) and I would let it go cold somewhere I couldn't smell it, and then I'd leave it sitting somewhere conspicuously on my desk, but not in my direct line of vision. No one ever noticed it was the same cup all day!

Also, I transitioned into more empire lined and tunic style tops a couple of months before our BFP, so it wasn't a sudden change ... and there wasn't long between DS weaning and getting UTD with DS2 so I just never stopped wearing those clothes!

We kept DS1 a secret until I was 22 weeks

I used a detox excuse - before I got married, I went on an enforced diet when I got braces and was warned the adult teeth mark easier than younger teeth so I had to be serious with no caffeine, red wine, chocolate, highly colored lollies or fizzy drinks. It was really quite healthy!

Anyway after I fell pregnant, I just said that I was doing that again. Worked a treat!

Funny you mention the coffee PEanutter - the coffee guy at work picked it up within 3 days "how come you've stopped drinking my coffee? Why are you always ordering decaf and tea?" unfortunately it was infront of my boss who had no idea. Coffee man and I joke a lot so I told him when he learnt how to make a good coffee I'd buy one again. He's the best in the area

A single male friend of ours raised an eyebrow and circled his finger around pointing towards me, saying 'Tell me when I'm pointing at the interesting bit...!" when the waitress asked who was having the decaf flat white. It was just a few days after our BFP after an ICSI cycle, and I had nothing prepared, and mumbled something about post-Christmas detox, but he just grinned - he wasn't fooled at all, but respectfully said nothing further until we officially announced it.

Some good ideas there ladies, or long stories!
Phew, lucky friend didn't pick it up but did continue to tell me if I relax about it, etc it will happen!! And she asked how I have been as I looked tired but like I had lost weight (tired yeah maybe, weight I feel like a balloon!)
I just told her I'm having tests to check my 'thyroid'!!

I'm finding it really hard to hide this time around, glad I'm not at work, my stomach is popped out as much as it was when I was 20 weeks with DD. I'm waiting for the 6 -8 week neausea to set in.. ugh.

TBH, with Stormy all I plan to do is ask "how rude are you?" if people want to "guess" if I'm pg. People do that now and last time I just said "No. What, am I getting too much of a belly or something?" Point out that it is a rude thing to say to a woman (which I do) - either because she isn't pregnant or she doesn't want you to know.

If more women told people it was a rude question, people would soon stop asking. And given the amount of stress this seems to cause on BB, it clearly is a question that is getting ruder and ruder.

Every time I was asked about being pregnant before we announced I just blew it off by saying 'nah, you have to dtd for that to happen, well unless I change my name to Mary' And that normally stopped any further comments
