I was just wondering if anyone has a good rehydration solution recipe? preferably one given by a vet/breeder? My puppy has diarrhoea (3 bouts since 2pm), and at the moment im giving her 20mL of water every half hour, what the vet says she requires. I was hoping to give a rehydration solution instead, to help with electrolytes. Im also giving her scour-ban at the required dose.
Please note, Im not looking for people who want me to take her to the vet, she has already had this before and I am simply doing what the vet did for her that time. She doesnt have Parvo (shes had all her immunisations) and I plan on taking her to the emergency centre if she gets worse or cant keep the water im giving her down.
I will make some up for her, just to give her an added boost......She hasn't been drinking all arvo, so I've been giving her 20mL by syringe every half hour. She was a bit resistant at first but now she laps it up no problem. She has just perked up a bit and is lapping water by herself when I sit with her. Shes looking much better
back to being crazy as normal! has relocated some of our turf from the front gate to near her bed on the patio...... and is currently enjoying flicking sand out of the sandbox......
Got to love the puppy stage!
Glad your pup is doing better do you know what is causing the upsets?
if there is a next time, you could try diluting puppy milk with warm water to try, or boiling some vegetables for a non-salty vegetable stock. Another option is asking the vet for an electrolyte formula to have on hand for next time (although hopefully it won't happen again)
