Mini pill side effects?

Since DD3 was born Ive been on the mini pill. I hate how it makes me feel. Im angry all the time, highly stressed and I have no drive in the bedroom at all.
No word of a lie, but I have forgotten to take my pills for the last week, and since stopping Im a much happier person.

So heres the question will all the other chemical options have potentially the same effect on me? Or am I better off trying something else?

I found the mini pill had less emotional effects on me but I spotted almost every second day so stopped it after a month

I found after having kids I would get depressed and have no libido when taking what was my regular pill (Levlen). So glad hubby has had the snip and I no longer need to take it.

Different pills have different hormones/hormone combinations so they may have less/more side effects for you. Worth talking to your GP/pharmacist or womens health clinic about or if alternatives like implanon/depot provera or mirena might be better. Hope you find something that works

Thanks hun Is been years since Ive tried anything but the mini pill. And after a while I get the same side effects and stop taking it. Hence the three babies

I may have to make an appt with my gp and see what he can do for me.

I remember taking the mini pill after DD2 was born and I'm sure it added to my PND. The pill in general really affects my moods. I hate it.

DH is definitely going for the snip this time. He's still wrestling with the loss of his manhood (apparently!!) but fortunately he's seen the advantages of him doing that over the only alternative form of contraception acceptable to me at this point, ie he gets the chop or we never DTD again ;-)

The mini pill had a really bad effect on me this time and it's really put me off! Hubby getting the snip

My sister has had terrible trouble with hormone BC but is loving the Mirena if an IUD is an option.

Thank you so much for posting this Beans, like you when I was on the mini pill I had everything you just described, I was angry, had a very short fuse, no sex drive what so ever, and quite honestly didn't really like my husband much, every little thing he did annoyed me and I felt really low. I really did start to think I had PND. DH has had the snip (4 boys are enough for us) and finally about 3 weeks ago we got the all clear so I have stopped the pill and I am feeling so much better.

I know that doesn't help you, I would see your GP, I have heard that the Mirena is quite good now (think it is an IUD) but I have no personal expierence.

I hope you can find something that works for you.
