A job being offered to someone else

Would you be frustrated if you had clearly stated that you were keen on the job to the current owner knowing you have all the quals etc, who agreed you could do the job well, but then they offered it to someone else (someone that you know)?

Guess i don't really need that job anyway.

Thing is I know the manager really well too which is what peeved me more. Feel like a slap in the face and basically saying I'm not good enough (without using the words).

See what happens but I'm kinda of the thinking now of that's how they feel (that I'm not worth it) then maybe the jobs not for me.

    Still annoyed though haha

Yep! that has happened to me. I was encouraged to go for it by my boss. In fact I would not have gone for it if he did not suggest that I apply. I didnt even get an interview.

Try and be brave and ask why you didnt get an interview. I did. I think it made my boss respect me more how I handled the situation (secretly I was just thinking, dont expect me to do half of the extra things I normally do seeming they mean f all to him LOL).

Yes, I would be pee'd off. Although it would depend who the job actually went to - if I could see that the person was at least as qualified as me, then I suppose that I would just think that I was second in line... Talk to your manager.

I would be a little annoyed but you never know the reasons for this person getting the job or you not getting the job IYKWIM.
In my old job my team leader was adament i was capable of doing a higher position, she suggested me for different positions multiple times and although managent agreed i was capable they required me in the role i was in more so than the higher position.
They did put someone less qualified in and he was basically my manager but we worked together really well and he would never have been able to complete the training aspect of the job i currently held, so while i was annoyed i knew it wasn't about me personally but more who was required where.

I would have a chat with your manager just ask them if you were considered for the role or if there was anything in particular you need to do in your current role to be looked at closer next time.. IYKWIM.
Go in with the attitude you don't mind but you are quite interested in a change in position and how best to achieve it.

    Thanks guys.
It's not for my current job, in fact I e just gotten a promotion to team leader.
I know someone who is managing another place where the job is. When it was first mentioned it was more money and the manager knew how keen I was and agreed that id be good. It was more responsibility.
The manager then offered the position to someone else I know without talking to me again.

After sleeping on it over night I'm not so annoyed. My current job will eventually earn me more money and perks than what the other place is now offering. So staying where I am
