so my bloodloss (after and despite my PPH) was all good, did exactly what it was suppose to, started bright, went dark, got less, went to spotting, turned to yellow loss etc.. and by 5 weeks I didn't need to wear a pad anymore.
I'm no 6 1/2 weeks post birth, and today I started bleeding again. and really, it is exactly like a period, same colour, consistancy etc. just what I would class as light to moderate. (before I was preg, my day one I would be heavy, this is like my day 3 or 4).
I'm not sure, cause we all say 6 weeks is it, after that you shouldn't have anything. and it seriously can't be a period can it??
I did have my post natal appointment with the dr today, and he didn't even bat an eyelid or comment when I said i have started bleeding again today, just went on to say have my hB rechecked in about a month because of my PPH...
umm...so yea, any ideas? should I be worried and get it followed up further? what has happened with everyone else?
The same thing happened to me this time. I had never had it happen before but mine continued on and off just as you've described until about 8 weeks. My GP said it wasn't abnormal. She was firm that if it hadn't stopped but 8 weeks that we were going to scan for retained products though. But it did so it was all good.
Pain huh?
It could be your period. bummer.
with DS my bleeding restarted due to a uterine infection, so it is something you might want to follow up on, just in case.
I stopped bleeding with DD at 6 weeks, and at 8 weeks I got a bright red bleed lasting about a week. Wasn't sure if it was the PP bleed finishing off, or AF. Either way, I didn't get AF again (or at all, who knows?) until I was about 6 months PP.
After DD's birth, exactly the same thing happened to me. And it was AF, because every 28 days on the dot, she rolled in again. I was exclusively b/f too.
Could be retained product. I had it with dd and ds2, thankfully both times it wasn't enough to need a curette and after being on antibiotics for 48 hours it completely stopped. I would go to your gp just in case.

I'd go to the docs just for peace of mind. We have enough to worry about! Might give you a break in the waiting room if someone can look after bubs for you too (every minute counts hey!)

I got my period 6 weeks after DD2 was born and I was exclusively BF!!
With DS, i got my first period about 5 weeks after his birth and it was super duper heavy. Like a pad an hour. I went to ED but they didn't give a hoot. They do samples of the loss and didn't care to tell me that I was still passing decidua. It eventually settles.
Next cycle was heavy again. Only this time I pass a small piece of placenta.
All that time the only symptom I had was the heavy blood loss. No fevers, chills or anything. I put that down to the 5 days of IV AB's I had after DS's birth.
I'd say if it's light, it's probably you're first period. If the bleeding gets heavy or you develop signs of infection, go to your ED straight away.
No other signs, just the sudden bleeding. It was mild, The ultrasound both times only showed a small piece of what they thought was membrane with fluid. I don't want to scare you as it very well could be a period but it's always better to be sure.

I bled for 10weeks after DD2 , had a scan and no retained product. I have had what seems like a period fortnightly since then (now 14 weeks pp). Dr advises only going on the full strength pill will stop it but will reduce milk supply and I'm not prepared to do that just yet. It's super annoying, hope yours sorts itself out quickly.
Thanks for all your replies girls. So that bleeding stoped about 5 days after it started, so thought wow it could be AF...
but I'm now 8 1/2 weeks and I started again! Thing is, this time it started after DH and I DTD... and its bright, has been going for nearly 2 days now... The fact it seemed to be triggered after DTD makes me concerned... would it be something is still healing and we just stired it up or what??
