My lochia disappeared (except for spotting) 4 days ago. I didn't even spot heavy when I pumped. Just pumped at 12, stood up, and blood and a few clots gushed down my leg. Ran to put a pad on (was only wearing a liner) and soaked the pad with dark red blood and a few more clots within the minute. Put a second pad on... no more clots but it is filling up with bleeding similar to first day AF in quantity. What's going on? Just a little concerned because APH is why bubs was early.
I bled off and on for 7 weeks with DD. that was a pain!
This time I bled for a week, stopped for 2 days, then it came back really heavy for a week, and has been slowing down now.
You could always talk to one of the SCN nurses, they're probably midwives.
Mine has been stopping and starting also - it starts again pretty suddenly but I wouldn't say I've had any gushing. I did get a very big clot at one stage - phoned the hospital about it because it freaked me out and she said they are ok but if I had anymore big ones to see if I could break them up to make sure they were just blood (gross!) and if there was anything solid in them to go to the hospital to get checked out.
I would definitely get checked out - its always better to be safe than sorry!
Mine started and stopped for five weeks with clots throughout so I wouldn't have any concerns normally, but given your history I would definitely get it checked. Hope its all ok
Yep, I stop, started for weeks and weeks. Just when I thought it had finished, it would start up again, bright red. Around 5 weeks post natal, it went really bright red and I was soaking the pads one night. Huge clots. I called the obs and ended up going back to hospy to be checked out. I'd had a c/s and they did blood tests etc, which didn't show an infection. They weren't thinking there was retained placenta due to the c/s so I had an u/s. Sure enough they found 3mm and my body was trying to get rid of it. My obs wasn't keen on doing a d&c so soon after the birth and recommended we wait and see. Turns out, as soon as I had handed over $ for the private u/s, it all came to a stop.
It was worse at night, than during the day, I'd get up for a night feed and have to run to the loo b/c the clots were so huge and then after calling the obs, it would ease off again. I'd definately see somebody if it keeps up.
