Stabbing period pain on right hand side only

Just wondering if anyone else suffers from this....

I have always had really bad period pain, but the past few months it has been more localised on my right hand side, low down. It's a really sharp, stabbing pain. Cant feel it on my left hand side at all.

Anyone else have this? Or does anyone else have a possible explanation as to why it's only on one side?

    it hurts

    thanks

I had the same but on the left hand side. When I had my lap it was the left ovary that was covered in endo and interestingly once it had been cleaned up I didn't get the pain as bad. Shame it took years of complaining and being ignored before someone listened (or found it by accident when looking for something else ) Hope it eases for you soon xxx

Adhesion? Fibroid? Adhesion could be wrapped around something.

I think if has happened more than once, then it would suggest something is not right. Hope it's not lap time. xx

I had been hospitalized a few times with suspected appendix trouble only to be released some days later nothing said. Mine comes as goes. And have put it down to just a quirk my body has.
Hope you can get answers for you

yep, i get it - and like DT, have been in emergency several times with suspected appendicitis! i have regular scans to check it, as i had a large cyst beside my ovary that they were blaming for quite a while, but now, even that has resolved, and the pain hasn't. back to being clueless, but given the way i scar elsewhere (overgrowth of scar tissue) i think it's related either to the ovarian drilling (and related scar tissue), ivf or c/section (and scar tissue) - before having the golf balling surgery, i NEVER had period pain - ever - i'd never know she was coming til i started to bleed. now i get warning for full LP...

Some months I am bed-ridden with the pain. Since my second pregnancy though it has eased somewhat and the pain is usually only severe for a day. I will often get the pain only on one side and then the next month the other side. I had assumed (probably wrongly) it was whatever side I was ovulating from....

I used to, specifically on left. The cause was my endometrioma on the left ovary. After it was drained, I've not had the stabbing pain since.

yep i had it. thought it was to do with my endo returning so went to see my gyno and he did a diagnostic lap. ovaries and tubes were all clear, however, my appendix was "abnormal" so he referred to me to a general surgeon.I had my appendix out 2 weeks ago and after reviewing the pathology results, it turns out the inner lining of my appendix was pretty much "obliterated" (surgeons words). this would not have been visible on a standard ultrasound as it was the inside of my appendix. he said the pain i'd been having would've been "mini" appendicitis attacks! - its been two weeks since i had it removed and have had no pain at all. Usually by now, i'd be curled up on the couch with a heat pack and loading up on neurofen as i used to have the pain throughout my cycle, with the worst being mid cycle.

I hope the pain eased up for you n2l When I was younger, I had O pain on alternating sides. These days it seems to be mainly on the left (I tried convincing my FS that my right ovary must have retired ) but I have had a massive fibroid removed from that side so I reckon I have scarring/adhesions there now. The pain is really really bad sometimes. With your pain, it could be maybe a cyst or a fibroid or just an adhesion....maybe? Hope your FS can give you some answers xoxox
