    Pod coffee machines

NBeing that I can't really go to my old work and pinch the uber pod coffee machine that I made my friend for seminars and meetings, we are thinking of buying one of the aldi's machines.

Two questions. One, are the aldi machines good? I am sure I have heard that they are. Second, do you need to use that brand's own pods?

I've heard that they are great, and yes you can only use their pods. If you are looking at Nespresso ones Kmart have a machine for around $79 that uses Nespresso pods. (Pity they are Nestle but I am tempted!!)

I have an aldi one, which I got for mothers day, and I love it. It doesn't froth or heat the milk, so I just blitz it in the microwave for 30seconds before I make the coffee. You can buy the milk frothers too if you want one. The coffee is nice, everyone I have made one for likes it. There are several different flavours and strengths in coffee, and they also have hot chocolate and chai lattes (though the chai can be hard to find!). Easy to use, easy to keep clean. And yes, you do have to use the aldi pods. Though I admittedly haven't tried hard to see if any of the other brands fit into it!

I have an Aldi one at home and one at work. It's awesome. Love how convenient they are and I've saved heaps since going out for a takeaway each day at work (except today when the power in the kitchen died....). They can also use the MAP pods which I think are available at Officeworks. There was a selection tin out when I got mine so I was able to try all the different styles and find a couple that I liked (and I now use the tins for pod storage). If you do a few google searches you will likely find a few threads about them. Apparently a new look machine style came out this week.

I just use a glass jar in the microwave with up and down frother to heat my milk rather than a special frother.

My mum went out and bought one after hearing me rave about it one weekend I was visiting (she hadn't even tried it).

DH has an aldi machine ( I hate coffee) and he loves it and the coffee. All friends I have made coffee for say how nice a coffee it is. I love the machine as it is easy to use and clean.

I bought a milk frother online and its awesome!! Aldi do sell some but hard to get!.

Aldi have a wide range of coffee pods as well as chai and hot choc. The MAP pods also fit in machine and DH has had some for malaysia as well that fit.

Work has one. I think the coffee is pretty disgusting but one of my colleagues reckons it's better if you use two pods for each cup.

Aldi one here! It is my saviour every morning! You can use the MAP coffee pods which are sold at office works, Harvey Norman and target I think has them too! Aldi has a lot of coffee strengths to choose from but at 5.99 for 16 pods I have tried them all and found my favourite!!

I have a nespresso and love it. You can get cheap compatible pods for them, I think grocery run had some recently and they are nice

We gave mum an aldi one and it is great- she can easily use it ( no mean feat lol) and I love all hte different strengths you can get, I buy my favourite and leave them at her house cos she like really strong ones and i prefer weaker or decaf. We don't bother with the frother, just warm up milk in microwave.
The price is right too and they look good.

I have a Nespresso pixie and love love love it. Not as good as proper barista made coffee but much better than plunger or instant and truly no mess. As someone else posted you can get compatible pods from grocery run although I've never tried them.

I've heard the Aldi machines are good too. (But use different pods.) There's also a Lavazza machine that I've heard is even better.

I have a Aldi coffee machine and the milk frother. I LOVE it. It saves me heaps, I've only brought 1 takeaway coffee since I brought it. The hot choc is nice too.

I've seen them doing demonstrations in Aldi stores. My Dad has an Aldi machine and it makes fine coffee, including choc and chai. I have a Nespresso and love it.

I've seen on YouTube once you can use the Aldi Machine with nespresso pods but you need to somehow put clingwrap around the nespresso pod and then put that pod inside an empty aldi pod.

My sister has an aldi machine and the coffee an too bad.

I have the milk Fr other machine an its OK. I notices it burns the milk though whereas the nespresso milk frother I use at work never did

Cool, thanks everyone. Doh. I just read everything, and I forgot what I was going to say. Perhaps it was about using different brand pods. Thatvis good.

Also if you on eBay you can get reusable pods for the nespresso machines.

THe patent for the nespresso pods finishes soonish (I can't remember when exactly) so you will see heaps of different ones come onto the market and prices wills tart to be competative.
