    Salt Lamps

I discovered a shop today that sells them. I have heard briefly about them, but curious as to if they actually work/are beneficial. The lady at the shop wasn't helpful at all, she said 'yes they are pretty arent they', and didnt seem to know anything about the health benefits.
Wondering if they would help us all have a better sleep by cleaning the air? and how much light do they give off, is it the same as a night light? is it enough to annoy you at night, or enough to do stuff by? like could I just use it as a light to bf with at night, or dont they give off enough? would you put them in the bedroom? or in another room of the house. umm.. thats all i can think of to ask...oh wait! do they dry the air out too much?
    thanks!

they are meant to do something to the air, like neutrilise it, and they say its good to have them in places where there are electric fields, like laptops and tvs etc.. any electrial device.
it might be a load of bull though, i dont know, thats why i thought id ask. although they are pretty, so might get one anyway, but yea..still be nice to know.

I have 5. I have them everywhere lol. I find them most useful near electronics like pc and tv etc.
Too much light to sleep with for dh but kids sleep with them on.
You could def feed by them.
I don't find they dry the air out.

Ive wanted to buy one for ages but want to make sure it's a genuine one.

I think they attract negative energy and, like TT40 said, neutralize it. I THINK!

I'm interested in others input also.

It's the negative ions that makes them awesome

I have heard they are awesome for asthma and allergy sufferers as well.

They are ment to change the energy's produced by TV's Laptops etc.

we love them.... there is a website called original saltlamps (*i think*) they have house packs. We got three lamps, one big one and two smaller ones, plus a dimmer cable which means the one in my baby room can dim right down to candle glow. Besides all the healing benefits these lamps are perfect for night time breast feeding, not too bright so doesn't encourage bub to wake up so much!!!

DH has asthma so was hoping they might be good for that, but was worried they would make it worse. but sounds like they are worth it.
how do you tell if they are genuine?

I got a bulk pack from salt lamps Australia I think it was called. Very cheap and fast post too. The local places seemed a bit pricey and didn't have the natural rock shaped ones I wanted

The thing I've never understood (& the guy in the shop nearby that sells them was useless about explaining it too), is, how are they supposed to neutralise the effects of electricity or whatever, when they are also electric? I know you can get tea light ones but DH isn't comfortable with naked flame in the house.

buying online, i know original saltlamps sell genuine salt lamps, I noticed on FB that they said they have the lowest postage AUS wide. Shops are expensive, you can buy a whole house pack instead of just one for about the same price!

hehehe I thought the same thing, and partly it is true, which is why i started with the candles. But the electric ones the salt rock does warm up which is when it starts working. THere are USB ones for the computer too. If nothing else the ambiance is really nice!!!

Throw some salt into boiling water on a gas burner stove and you will see how salt can effect the atmosphere - the flame will change from blue to bright orange and flare up a bit. Pretty cool.
