Im having trouble with make up since I went red.
I have been blonde in various amounts for about 20 years but thought it was time for a change. so red it is. its a chocolate red with copper lights.
the skin around my nose/cheeks has always been red but can't seem to tone it down now and the green base stuff I have make foundation very think over it.
lip color is my other problem. I use to use soft pinks but now it looks wrong. the shops here don't have lip liners or even. good variety of.color
to top it off in China the ladies have mainly yellow skin and I am very fair with blue eyes so make up is tricky at the best if times.
feeling ugly
I am red head, although not very dark. More of a strawberry blonde. I am also very fair with blue eyes.
Anyway, I where mauvish colour lipsticks, blue/grey eyeshadow and brown eye liner. I tend to wear lip gloss in pinks, not shocking pink as you are right, it can look odd. In fact all my lipsticks tend to be a lip gloss base. Another one I have is Clinique lip gloss. It's feels nice on.
I only wear cream blushes as I am not good with powder, it's usually an apricot sort of colour. I also have a mauve base cheek cream which works well. It's the Bobbi Brown brand. The eyeshadow I use is also a cream eyeshadow rather than powder...it's a Calvin Klein eye tint.
I wear a Mac foundation that covers up very well. It's called Mac Studio Fix fluid. Buy it on eBay.
Check out the Nude By Nature range. I have rosatia (sp?) and it covers that really well and gives my skin a lovely healthy look. It's available in good pharmacies c
Your new hair colour sounds amazing. I bet it really sets off your eyes and lovely pale skin. I'm sorry you're feeling ugly, you shouldn't!
On pale redheads I tend to use a neutral or slightly yellow-toned foundation as it counteracts pink tones/redness. That doesn't mean really yellow, just a bit of a cooler base. Did you say you're based in China? Global drugstore brands like Revlon, Maybelline etc should be stocked with a fairly good range of foundations so you're not stuck with the really yellowy tones. M.A.C is excellent and if you go to a counter the girls will colour-match you. Otherwise I agree with Frangipani Lou, a mineral makeup like Nude by Nature would be good for your skin if prone to redness and is very forgiving colour-wise if you can't try before you buy. You should be able to get it online.
In terms of eyes, warm-toned browns, coppers and peachy colours look amazing on blue eyes (as they're the opposite on the colour wheel). Yep, go for brown eye liner rather than black I reckon.
Cheeks, peachy or warm pinks would look lovely. Same with lips. I tend to suggest staying in the same colour family for lips and cheeks as it pulls everything together.
Since I know buffy1 is a make up specialist, I will leave to her. I remember from other threads that she is fantastic with this sort of thing.
I also once got explained that with our colouring, the brown eye liner brings out the blue in our eyes more. Seems to work for me as I often get told my eyes are almost glowing blue.
I find if I use the mauvish colour it almost goes to a pink tinge once I rub it in a bit. It's mauve leading to pink without being over pink
