    Bub's rise length

Because I'm in denial about how big my girl actually is and not keen to adjust the size of her nappies to the next big size just yet. I thought I would measure her rise length just out of curiosity, and would be keen to know other bub's lengths and their age, and what nappies you use and what size they are set to (if using OSFM). it also might help new people get an idea of what size/type of nappy to get.

So I measured from the top of her bum crack to her belly button and...

at 3 1/2 months (4 months next week) it was 28cm.

is my girl really a boof? or just look like it

I'll measure Miss A when she wakes up. I had her length measured last week and she was 63cm, which puts her on about the 90th percentile.

I've just had to put her into her medium size itti bittis because the smalls were just not making it - a brickie's crack on a baby girl is just so wrong!! Of course, back to the whole legs leaking thing because she's not quite ready for the mediums yet

ah you make me laugh! I'm struggling the other way - she's not putting on enough weight. We also don't use cloth nappies, so not much use am I?
Anyway, was going to say 'boof' is good. They lose it when they're crawling and running around. My DH1 was big as a baby (says she who is currently feeding them pikelets at 4:20pm

I'll measure missy once I've changed her. Although same problem here, not gaining the way the charts want us to. Mmmmm .... pikelets

Yeah, those charts are great for causing mums grief and stress. I did my head in with DDs 1 and 2, but now I'm used to the fact that my babies spend the first 12 months at the top of teh chart for length, and the bottom for weight and that's just the way they are. Then they go to the bottom of the chart for everything and look like the sort of tiny undersized catch fishermen throw back when they're standing next to their classmates ;-)

Sorry - ended up being in a rush to get DD1 from school. Will measure next nappy change

My DS is in medium itti bittis so they can last a while. He was always on the tall side but weight has been slowing down. Last measure at 14 months was 10.5kg and 82.5cm tall. He has a small butt too, so not much rise on him. Her shape will change once she's moving.

im not worried. she is healthy and happy. at 6week check she was 95% both length and weight (i havent got her measired since then). im just in denial that she is growing up (already). i know all bubs are different i love my big chubba girl! this was more just a curiosity thing and then if bubs are simular to others might give people an idea on what style nappy to use.

I'm using greenkids pockets on Miss A now. They're big around her scrawny bottom, which is to be expected given they're OSFM, but they still "fit" really well and I haven't had any leakage problems at all. Plus TBH I kind of like the big fluffy bottom look. I really like them because I can boost them for overnight/long trips, and having used them for both Miss I and Miss E know that for us at least they are very reliable.

Like WilliamsMummy said, once Spock is on the move she will trim down and you will find that she goes up more than she goes out, so you'll probably find that whatever the next size of nappies is you go to will last her for a long time to come. I'm expecting to not have to buy the large itti bittis at all because if Miss A continues to mirror her sister' growth patterns, I will have a skinny girl for years to come.

I'll measure for you in the morning TT. I have no idea really.
H is a chubba too, but she seems to wee towards the front. DD1 never did this. I have had her OSFMs on the highest setting (no snaps snapped down) since she was about 3 months old.

I love the fluffy bum look too Lulu, thats another reason I didn't like itti bittis. they were too slim fitting =P.

SO sorry T. Finally got myself organised to do this. Miss A's scrawny bottom is 22 cm from the top of her bum crack under and round to her belly button
