    Question Hair loss after baby

3 months after i had DD my hair started falling out, the hair loss was a lot that i ended up very thin on the sides of my head and had bald patches. I had to wear my hair a certain way to cover it.

Did anyone experience this? And was it after every baby?

Its been 8 weeks since i've had DS and so far no sign of hair loss, so far just the normal amount when brushing and washing.

I'm asking as i'd love to get my hair cut and coloured but not if its just going to fall out!

Yep it will shed a lot. Totally normal, around the 3 month mark

at about 3 1/2 months mine started falling out. but no where as bad as that. I use to shed bucketloads, and whilst pregnant i only shed about 1/3 of normal. and now it is back to what it was before i was pregnant. My hair is very fine and thin anyway, so even though there isnt much of it, it is pretty evenly spread over my head itms...so no bald patches

hormones whilst pregnant are meant to stop it falling out (dont know why) which is why people say their hair is thicker and longer whilst preg. so when those hormones leave your body, it would start falling out again.

Wahhh! I don't want my hair to fall out!!

Though it is actually quicker thicker than it normally is so *hopefully* it just sheds enough to go back to normal and i have no horrible baldness

Mine started falling out at about 3 months too - the growey back bits are only just long enough to be unnoticeable with my regular length hair now and he's 11 months :/

FWIW I noticed less and less after each baby. With DD1 it was horrendous. DS wasn't so bad, and DD2 I noticed a bit but not anywhere near as bad as DD1.

Yep 3 months almost to the day with both my kids. At 7 months the hair loss has pretty much stopped but all the new hair is growing back and it looks bloody awful!!

My husband used to have a shower and then pretend something was crawling out of the drain to get him as there was so much hair there!

Yep between 3-4 months (after our third baby this year). Handfuls and handfuls. I've normally got thick hair, so I love when it thins out. Saves the hairdresser having to thin it for me. I remember reading somewhere that hair normally goes through a growth, dormant then shedding phase, but in pregnancy with the human growth hormone, it grows and grows and grows and then a few months after birth it starts shedding. Like Kelsbels, I've got the short, spiky re-growth starting to happen

Yeah my regrowth was awful! I had to get my hair cut short and with even shorter layers so it didnt look so bad! It started to look better then i had another baby! Lol so back to square one for me!

Hit the 5 month mark here and it's still falling out... The other two it stopped about now! If it wasn't falling out I'd be pulling my hair out with frustration

    Oh, don't pull it out.

Try a thickening shampoo and conditioner. That may help with the volume. Nioxin is a great product for after birth hair loss. I was recommended it by my gp!

    Hair loss after baby

It's the rise in E2 when you are pregnant stops hair loss and after you have your baby and the E2 levels drop, you will loose the hair that you would have over that 9month period (how it was explained to me anyway!)
I BFed too which seemed to make my hair loss worse but it does settle down in a few months when your hormone levels settle down x
