I went to Aussie Disposals and purchased a 30 cm Cast Iron Frypan. I have been wanting one from Redback for a while but every time I have the cash they are out of stock and every time they are in stock I don't have the cash.
I still want to order one of the deeper larger traditional american cast iron pans.
But for now eat your heart out PeeDub! I have me an iron skillet! To cook steak, and taters, and eggs, and bacon, and tarte tartin, and my home made tortillas. I am going to happily turf my cancer-inducing-teflon-coated frypan with much GLEE! Soon I will have a kitchen filled with only cast iron, stainless steel and enamel iron pots. And then I'll be happy.
w00t. I love cast iron. It lasts forever. I have my Granny's cast iron frypan that is over 30 years old and it's got another 30 years left in it (although I would never turf my cancer inducing Anolon advanced fry pan )
Bargain. I lost out in the battle with my Aunt when my nan was getting rid of all her cookware. I told my Aunt it is mine next, I will be waiting a while.
I made steak tonight. And omg it was awesome. It smoked a bit lol. I think I had it too high but it was amazing. I love love love grilled steak but you just can't get a good crust on the stovetop without an iron pan. Awesome.
And I washed it. Oiled it up. I'll probably season again properly sometime this week. I can't wait to do a tarte tatin.
