    cookie dough and cookie cutter

=) hi. Since having Spock I've become all domesticated and that involves baking! So i am currently baking a batch of cookies. I have a cookie cutter I want to use, but when i try to cut the dough the dough is way too gooey and soft and doesnt hold the form of the cutter, just sticks to the inside of the cutter.
is there a trick to be able to cut the dough? or do you need to make special cookies that will work in a cutter? is the recipe I have just not made to be cut into skeleton shapes?
    TIA!!!

I had the same problem, it turns out it depends on the recipe. Some cookie recipes are supposed to be all soft and gooey, so not "shapeable"; others are supposed to be hard and hold shape

I find if its a recipe that says you "drop" spoonfuls of the mixture then its too gooey for cutting. I just use a butter cookie recipe (or any recipe that calls for rolling that you might have, and vary it with choc chips, different flavours with juice, cocoa etc. HTH

For presicion cutting you can cut dough just after removing it from the oven. You have a few minutes where it is still soft.

Look for a recipe for a 'sugar cookie' and you should end up with a dough you can roll and cut.

Oh this is timely as I recently bought a cute gingerbread girl cutter to make and decorate cookies with DD. Subbing!
