    For those who drink alcohol...

How much do you spend on alcohol in a pay period, (honestly ) be it weekly fortnightly etc?

I spend about $40 a fortnight, which buys me a case of (6) champagne It lasts me the fortnight easily because i drink it with soda ..

Do you buy alcohol when you want it, or do you budget an amount per week? Do you 'splash out' on something different if you are going to a party?

I don't budget for it, I just buy it when I want it. I used to drink a couple of times a week but I haven't had a drink in months so haven't bought any.

Not budgeted, one bottle of wine lasts me a week, or a bottle of jewel or another lower alcohol champagne when I have a social event on. These days we spend significantly less on a,COBOL than when we were younger. We have a cupboard full of spirits that barely get touched, bar dh's jack Daniels.

Dh brews his beer and my cider, works out about $20 for each 19L keg which lasts ages!

Not budgeted here at the moment, but usually it is. A bottle of bourbon will last me about 2-3 weeks, sometimes longer.
When on cheapies, it is usually just a sweet cask white, about $10 and will do me for a month.

I but a bottle vodka every few months. Dh gets a box of beer every two to three weeks depending on the temp/ who's been over, why yard work he has been doing. Costs about $40. He mows my parents lawns to pay for it.

At the moment there is no budget for alcohol Too much needs to be saved. Went to a party last week with 2 Jimmy's

I will generally buy a bottle for $36 here & it'll last a few weeks. I'm not a big drinker. Or a 10 pack, for $44. I drank all bar 2 last weekend when camping, still have one sitting in the fridge.

I really only buy for parties, then have whats left over when I feel like them.

We don't budget for it here, and we rarely buy it even though we both drink (although not me at the moment). That being said, we have a ridiculous amount of spirits and wine in our house so even if we do want a drink we don't necessarily need to buy some. That being said, DH will occasionally (maybe 3-4 times a year) buy half a dozen bottles of wine (which we both drink) or an occasional case of beer (just for him and friends). If I had to guess, I'd say we spend maybe $400ish in an average year????

    For those who drink alcohol...

We might spend $80 all year. And most of that is good quality port for DH which will last all year (and then some). So we don't budget for it. DH gets gifted a fair amount of wine as well...but we drink so rarely that it just sits and gathers dust.

We might buy some form of alcohol once a month which is usually for some social gathering.

We both get pocket money so it comes out of that. On average, DP would drink three stubbies a night so about $40 per week.

I don't buy much these days compared to pre-children. If I keep wine in the house I have to drink it. So I probably average two bottles of wine a month so about $40 a month.

So in total, I'd say $160 for DP and $40 for me = $200 per month.

Not budgeted here. I am not having anything at the moment but normally a glass or two of white wine or gin and tonic with dinner, once or twice a week. DH is red wine, he has one or two glasses with dinner on a sunday.

Far out I feel like an alcoholic posting in this thread hahaha.

Alcohol is budgeted for us, we both like a drink and we both like good quality stuff.

DH gets $75 per week to spend on beer, he works away on a mine and can only buy beer by the stubby so it works out more expensive. He would drink on average a 6 pack a night.

I will ususally have two glasses of nice wine ($18-$25 per bottle) a night (obviously when im not pregnant!) or a vodka, lime and lemonade. We have a very well stocked bar as we travel overseas about 4-6 times per year and buy top label spirits duty free.

My parents make their own wine as well so we dont pay for red wine. We have bbq's/theme nights/****tail parties approx once every 8 weeks and we normally supply all the alcohol so a lot of our spirits get used up in yummy drinks.

Hubby brews his own beer, but does it from grain with high quality ingredients. We spend up to $90 a month on that, and it gets us two kegs. Sometimes he sells a keg or takes one to a party and people chuck in. Last time we did it, three kegs pulled in $225, so our "investment" was made back.

Anyway, we always have beautiful craft beer on tap.

Spirits get bought duty free on work trips, and come out of hubby's allocated fun money, so don't affect the budget. I have a huuuuge backlog of gin.

    For those who drink alcohol...

Probably $100 a month. We buy a bottle of vodka and a bottle of tequila which lasts about a month. Not budgeted, just when we want it really.
