    'Heat treated' salamis ... Ok?

I've seen that some manufacturers make heat treated salami/pepperoni etc. are these ok to eat without heating (ie straight from the fridge)? I'm missing my deli sausage, my local one makes them and has them hanging in the shop to dry - but obviously these are currently out, so was thinking I could substitute with the heat treated stuff?

Not sure about heat treated ones, but I've eaten salami the whole way through my pregnancy, I've craved it even!!! I figured as long as its freshly sliced or out of the packet then it's ok.

I ate deli meats but only when cooked - so on a pizza, grilled chorizo, in pasta, etc. If hot enough, the heat kills any listeria.

Cured meats such as salami are high risk for listeria (packaged or not) so its definitely best to avoid them while pregnant unless served piping hot.

I would only eat salami if it's just been cooked - pizza, pasta, toasted sanga etc.

Even if the salami has been heat treated once bacteria can regrow in the time it's been sitting in the wrapper since.
