You can use a basic icing mix with
    500g icing sugar
    2 tsp melted butter
    2 tablespoons hot water

Just adjust to consistency you require

I make an icing with just a cup of icing sugar, a teaspoon of butter or margarine and a few drops of hot water. You can make it as thick enough to pipe (add more icing sugar) or thin (more water) as you like and it sets reasonably hard.

    haha. Snap PP.

Oh that's easy thanks chicks - do I need to beat it or just mix together? Can I add food colouring??

you can also make royal with the "orgran no egg" egg replacer, same as royal icing but use the no egg in place of egg whites..

(I use meringue powder in my royal, which has dehydrated egg whites.. not sure if thats still out?)

you could also use a glaze icing, which will set like royal, icing sugar, corn syrup (glucose syrup) and a dash on milk, can still be coloured etc..

    Alternative to Royal Icing.....

There's this just add water royal icing mix you can get at the shops. You would need to check the packet but I'm pretty sure it doesn't have egg in it. You can add extra water to make it runnier.

I read the other day melting white chocolate and mixing in icing sugar to use as an egg free royal icing alternative. It was actually on bb.

Lol Tan. Sorry, I can't remember what it was I searched for to come up with it. It had something to do with either royal icing or gingerbread houses. Good luck.
