Question subchorionic bleed & bedrest/light duties

I am currently 12 weeks pregnant and have been diagnosed with a subchorionic bleed after a trip to the emergency department with bleeding. When I got my ultrasound results I was told there was nothing I could do to make things better, and nothing I could do to make things worse. This was from one of the staff in the emergency department, not my usual OB. After googling my heart out when I got home, I have read many others have been told to take it easy, been put on pelvis rest (no sex, no heavy lifting) and/or bed rest.

If you have had a subchorionic bleed were you put on bed rest or told to take it easy? And did you? Thanks

    Hi
I was told to take it easy for a while, but no specific instructions. I know someone who had a very bad one and she was put on bed rest for several weeks.
    All the best!

    subchorionic bleed & bedrest/light duties

    Hi Peekaboo,
I'm currently 20 weeks (today! Yay)
I had a bleed with cramping at 8 weeks, thought it was all over - bubs was fine and tucked away nicely.
Then the day of our 12 week scan (was 11w3d)
I had a massive bleed with clots - lost 1.3 liters of blood and was in hospital most of the night.
Again bubs was fine!! Cheeky thing making us worry!

And after 2 m/c I was and still sort am , not totally relaxed!

Yes just rest and no heavy lifting, no sex, and listen to your body, if our tired rest or sleep.
I was taking aspirin at the time, and told to stop that too!

I was advised by 16-20 weeks SCH should subside and it has.
Basically it's a bleed between the layers (that would normally be your period) and as the sac is creating pressure in the uterus, it causes the bleed.
I know google is good and bad, and yes I won't lie some outcomes from a SCH aren't good BUT
think positive, rest and it should ease.
PM me if you want to chat

I was told to take it easy, no exercise, get plenty of rest and found that I bled more when I was more active, however that could be just gravity at work really!

Just another quick question for those who have gone through a subchorionic bleed - Mine started at 12 weeks, it was never heavy bleeding, either just a spot on the pad or when I wiped. It stopped after about a week, now at 14 weeks it's turned into a prune juice type discharge/spotting. Did anyone else experience this type of spotting??

    Thanks.

It sounds like its just old blood probably with some cervical mucous. I had a fairly severe SCH with dd1 off and on about half a dozen times all through pregnancy. As you can see from my sig she was early (33wk 6ds) because of a late bleed but she was perfectly healthy just tiny! Try not to stress and do rest up as much as possible, evidence suggests there actually ISN'T anything that can be done but overdoing it will possibly worsen things. Other than that make sure you're getting plenty of zinc and vit C which is essential for vein making and healing. All the best!

I wasn't specifically told to rest. Mine bled out but all was fine and I had a healthy baby.

Mine was quite a big one initially with a couple of smaller ones and probably took about a month before I was spotting free. I was on bed rest for a week then took things easy until it had resolved.

Peekaboo - I did have exactly what your describing, for approx 6 weeks after my second big bleed.
It is worrying, but certainly can be a good thing as baby grows they kind of push out the bruise/bleed.
Just make sure you ask at your next scan to check its gone, decreased etc.

    Thanks ladies!

I've had two scans so far - only a few days apart though. And they say it's nothing to be concerned about, but you can't help but worry when things aren't going as expected - I had no bleeding with DS1 or DS2.
