Baby monitor reccomendation please - best for range and clarity

Hi all. Our Tommee Tippee DECT monitor has died and we're looking for a new one. Trying to research and I'm overwhelmed by the options so hoping to draw on the experience of you lovely ladies.

The thing I have loved about the current one is that it has fantastic range so I can go way out to our back fence with DD and still hear if DS wakes. It's also really clear - no crackly feedback at all and can literally hear him roll over.

We've had the movement pad but found that this was a pain - too many false alarms - hence, looking at a different one, as don't need the expense of one with the sensor pad.

Anyone have a great monitor that fits the bill?

    Thanks!!

I've got two Angel Care monitors and love them both. We've never had an issue with our sensor pads but we've also got one without the sensor pads (got it for DD1 when DD2 arrived) and its great. Never had an issue with either - no static, crackles, interference, etc even with both running in the same house, in adjoining bedrooms.

After having the Tommee Tippee sensor pads one with DS, I bought the Angel Sounds one for DD and frankly I've been disappointed. I've already had to send the nursery unit back for replacement (which they did no worries, but still a PITA) as the switch that turns the sensor pads off became loose and wouldn't switch off which was a pain if I was quickly getting DD out of the cot to resettle as would have to turn the whole monitor off which would then cause static in the receiver. When I spoke to the lady re the warranty she basically said this is a known problem. Also, you cant turn down the volume of the tic (which is really loud) so we just have it off. Also the Tommee Tippee one reads the temperature in the room, the Angel sounds doesn't (for the comparable $199 model).

I wish I'd re-bought the tommee tippee tbh

We bought this one for Mums house - the Oricom SC50 from Toys R Us on sale for $50 from about $100. Its awesome, Mum can be down the back of the yard gardening the range is good, no interference either. (no Sensor pads, just a straight forward nursery unit and receiver)

We have an AngelCare monitor that we got when DS was born. We don't use the sensor pad, but we still use the baby and parent unit at night when DS is sleeping because his room is the other end of the house. We always hear a bit of static though and turn it down low enough that we can't hear the static but can still hear if he wakes up upset. We have major issues with mobile phone chargers though. If there is a mobile phone charger plugged into the power (the actual phone doesn't even need to be on the charger) in the same rtoom as the parent unit it creates major static on the parent unit. Of course hubby likes to charge his phone overnight in our bedroom...

We got an Oricom SC700 when DD2 was born. I wish I had got one with the first baby! I LOVE IT! I has the little camera and I can see her when she is sleeping. I like being able to see where on the bed she is. Plus, with her crawling now I like that I can watch to make sure she doesn't crawl from her cot mattress, to my bed and then to the floor (which is highly unlikely as her sleeping bag is always tucked tightly to the end of her bed and she can't pull it out lol). You can also turn on lullaby music from the parent unit with plays through the camera unit next to her. t puts her back to sleep really well! It also has a noise activation feature you can turn on, so my video screen turns on whenever she makes noise in the room. I have it sensitive enough that the screen turns on even when she just turns her head.

Plus, I figure it means I can spy on the kids during the night when the are older yeah? Lol.

We had Angel care sound and movement moniter and loved it. Even in a Boori cot we didn't have false alarms at all, only time went off was when DH picked DS1 up without turning it off. Loved it had to wean myself off using on DS1 when he was 17 months old before DS2 was born, hardly used on DS2 as he mainly co slept.

Thanks so much all. You wouldn't believe it... DH went down to local baby shop to 'research' and came back with an Oricom one. The man cannot help himself, he just has to buy stuff! Good sound... haven't checked out the range yet.

While he was gone, I'd gone looking (again) for the receipt for the TT one and managed to find the manual - still no receipt. AFTER he set the new one up I called the helpline number on the back of the manual and after a quick chat, the lady just said "hmmm, well it really shouldn't be doing that. Just send me a photo as proof of purchase and I'll post you a new one." WTF???! Awesome!

So now we have a lovely new monitor that we don't really need...
Thinking we might keep it though as the one we use for DDs room has terrible static.

Thanks again for your feedback. For the record, I can highly reccomend TT for their excellent customer service!
