    My uterus hates me

I'm not used to periods as all my adult life I have quashed them with hormonal contraceptives or pregnancy and breastfeeding. But now I'm done with the iud after the horrible side effects and for various reasons I don't want to mess with hormones again.

However, in the words of Rouge, my uterus hates me. The pain is awful, especially if I'm standing. I also feel sick. What pain relief, chemical or otherwise, do you find works best? So far I've tried ponstan and medicinal sorbet but it's still horrible.

When mine is especially bad, 2 paracetamol, and 2 ibuprofen, then cycle them every 4-ish hours.

Mersyndol is good. They have a day and night strength one As the normal one can make you drowsy, which helps with the pain at night.

Mersyndol would knock me out but Neurofen was fine. Heat packs worked well for me as we'll.

All of the above. Not at once or I might get in trouble. BUT I even do 3 panadeine occasionally which is probably what works for me the best.

It sucks donkeys balls. I feel your pain. I swear apart from the drying up I must be the only woman on the planet that's actually looking forward to menopause. I swear I can handle the idea of psycho mood swings and hot flushes.

And right now we're in sync. So pass the chocolate. And I'll rub your back if you rub mine

Thanks for the hug, I'm sending you one back

Panadeine and ponstan are numbing it a bit so far and I'm going to try my clary sage a bit more and see if that helps. I have no chocolate but will remedy that tomorrow!

yup go with the ibuprofen- works the best- dont waste your money on ponstant etc- they are literally the same as nurofen. Also dont forget the voltaren if it gets really bad.
Heat is your friend- heatpacks , even those heat strips that you attach like a big bandaid work well

massage works well, following a v down from your hip bones to your V-jay

also acupressure works well- the point for mentrual cramps is spleen 6
to find it feel the bony point of the inner ankle. From that point, draw an imaginary line up the lower calf from the inner ankle. The point is approximately four finger widths from the inner ankle. It isn't on the shin bone, but just beside it towards the back of the calf.

With your thumb or middle finger at a 90 degree angle to the skin, apply gradually increasing pressure. Hold for three minutes. The pressure should not be painful or uncomfortable.

You can also take so supplements to assist- Omega 3- fatty acids taken long term work, as well as magnesium, B1 and Vitamin E
short term- the drugs are going to work, but long term natural alternatives can help
    HTH and hang in there

Trick is to start taking before the pain hits if you are taking an anti-inflammatory. Also remember to keep it up (of course within the advised dosing limits ) Can be hard to get right, but well worthy trying.

Maybe we can start a "my uterus hates me" support group

Thanks diva I am a rubbish nurse lol I didn't know which one worked best. I am also clearly a terrible midwife because I went to an acupressure workshop recently but it never crossed my mind to use it. Doing that now, thanks
