    Too hard?

Major guilts tonight. Whilst doing my routine belly prods this evening I think I pushed too hard as little bump kicked me so hard it shocked me and it hurt a little. I must have given him/her a fright. I'm now paranoid that I've hurt him of her. there is still plenty of movement and kicks going on but I'm really upset that it happened. Do you think I could have hurt the baby? I have all these horid pictures in my head of broken toes or poked out eyes...little dramatic I know but I can't stop thinking about it and feeling guilty.

Deep breath... Baby will be fine, they are protected by so many layers of tissue and fluid, all designed to cushion and absorb impacts much stronger than your prodding.
    She was probably just sleeping.

    They are very well protected

Dd survived perfectly with my nephews and neice touching and poking and climbing over the belly. If you'd hurt them I doubt you'd be getting so much movement

    Too hard?

Yeah you probably just woke bubby up, or they'd had enough. Don't worry. Just pole more gently next time

    Too hard?

Babies have startle reflex in utero! I didn't know that until this little one tried to leap out of my stomach upon hearing his own heartbeat at 36wk midwife appointment. We woke him from a deep slumber apparently! Cutest thing ever. Apart from the foot in the rib/simultaneous punch in bladder.

Oh and since then, was laying on quiet couch in quiet house when a connect 4 box slipped off the couch with the lid off making a tonne of noise.. Again, woke him in a hurry and got the double punch. Hope it's not a sign of things to come! DD1 is such a heavy sleeper, she was a blissful baby!
