    Kids parties

Having a 1st birthday party soon. I also have an almost 3 year old, so will have a couple of older kids then a few kids between ages of 4 and few weeks old . We have a few bikes, scooters, prams etc.

Do you put away things that only one kid can have at a time (bikes etc)? Or do you have them all out?

It will be outside party. Have plenty of balls, and a climbing fire truck and a trampoline.

Also, do you know where you can buy pop-tops full of water?

I will probably have more questions, so i made the title of thread pretty vague so i can add to it.

I tend to leave everything out unless its something particularly cherished by one of my kids, or something that can be particularly dangerous to a younger child. I would hope that by the age of 3 they're starting to learn to share, and there should be enough adults around to break up any arguments.

I think I might know where to get your water bottles - will go check it out and come back to you

ETA: No, sorry. I thought they were on an awesome kids' party supplies site but they're not.

I leave them out unless it's something that i don't want the kids to have for some reason.

    Try supermarkets or cheapie shops.

We had Buster's first birthday party at home in the backyard, Moo had all his friends there too so lots of 3 year olds. We hired a jumping castle and kept our trampoline and toddler climbing thing out. The sand pit was dismantled (no biggie as we were getting the boys a bigger one built afterwards), sand pit toys put away, as well as all the scooters and trike type things.

I know what my Moo is like and so wanted to keep him happy and calm so he could enjoy the party too.

ETA - another thing I did was get out our gazebo thing and laid a picnic rug underneath with a tea set, was a huge hit!

Big w for pop top water. I'd put bikes away snd things that are going to cause sharing issues. You could set up a play dough table or a water play table.

Good tip about bubble machine 2CM! I got one for DS at Xmas.

Does anyone know if u can fondant from woollies/coles? And how much for what kind of quantity.. I think I need some for eyes and such for character cupcakes lol.

Also would it be okay to make cupcakes and ice them with a buttercream the day before if I kept them in the fridge overnight? Im just worried I'll run out of time in the morning of party.

Buttercream icing will be fine made and iced the day before

I just saw slabs of water pop tops at big W

We had a bouncy castle at DSs first birthday, totally money well spent IMO as all the kids had do much fun and it kept them outside rather than trashing the house/playroom

We did the 1st bday at home and I did picnic rugs with toys underneath gor the 1 year olds and babies. We didn't have too many older kids but I would def get a jumping castle or something like that for 2-4 yr olds.

If you have any kids older than 8, or teenagers, ask them if they would like to face paint or paint finger/toenails. Little kids love that stuff.
