    How long is the process?

Just wondering how long from close of application date to when they call your referee to when they call you for interview? I would like to know when I can assume I haven't been successful in a recent job application. Thanks.

There is a lot of variance. Some employers wait til after interview to call referees.

If it has been 3 weeks past close of application date, i might ring and just ask if they had begun interviews.

We try to have our interview process done quite quickly. Once the applications close we aim to shortlist within the week following, the week after for interviews, then calling referees for those ranked as suitable. The preferred applicant will be contacted and offered the position. Once it is accepted the unsuccessful interviewees will be notified by telephone. Applicants who weren't selected for interview would most likely just get a letter advising them of the outcome.

All in all it's about a 3 week turnaround however, sometimes it can take longer due to unforseen circumstances.

I would call to see what was happening if I hadn't heard anything after 2-3 weeks.

Good luck with your job hunting!

Most places will interview you before calling referees and generally I would advise waiting at least a week from the date applications close to the time you know if you have been successful or not in getting an interview. You should be advised either way though so if you are not successful they should send an email or letter to you.
