Hi, this is my first time on any forums, I am on my third cycle but still feel a little lost and alone sometimes. My brief story with IVF so far, I found out I have an AMH level of 1.1 and I am 30 years old. This was August 2012. Wow what a feeling that was, I was terrified. Stimulated cycle produced 10 eggs and 6 fertilised. 1st transfer was a BFN but surprisingly I coped well with it. We tried again straight away doing a natural FET cycle but my progesterone levels weren't peaking well enough and it was cancelled. We then had to wait a month as they were closed over Xmas. We started a medicated cycle in the first week of Jan 2013 with Progynova 3 times a day and then from day 14 added the progesterone pessaries to the mix twice a day. I had a 5day transfer with a healthy embryo and found out on Monday that it tested positive but HCG levels were 29 which they thought was a little low so I am going back on Friday to retest to see if the levels are rising well enough. I am so paranoid, I want to get excited that I tested positive but I am worried that I will not keep it. I have continued all the medications and last night I had a tiny little clot on the toilet paper and I freaked out. I did a home pregnancy test and it was negative. I am devastated. My husband says I should still stay positive as the test may not be accurate. I know this story has been a lot to take in but I would love to hear other people's experiences on getting a low HCG level. Thanks in advance.
I'm sorry I haven't had experience with low HCG but I know there are ladies on here that have and hopefully they can reply.
But I did conceive both my kids through IVF and had a hard time in the process, so I know what you are going through. I also spotted constantly from 4 to 7 weeks with my second and he is now 19 months. So try not to stress
Kel there is a thread on here with lots of experiences of low hcg. I cant find it as I am on my phone. Perhaps search in the TTC section as I know there is some great stories so worth the search! Good luck.
Hi Kel
I had a hcg level of 42 at 11dp5dt (16dpo) it was through a fresh ivf cycle. Slowly slowly my levels rose and I am now 17 weeks pregnant.
I really hope you've just got a late bloomer and your levels continue to rise over the coming days.
Sending you love and strength.
My story isn't of ivf but my hcg at 16dpo was just 18, and just 2 hrs ago I saw a healthy wriggly baby on the ultrasound screen maybe wait until morning and test again with first morning wee gingers crossed for a sticky bub in there
Hi Nirenotrom and little_mrs, thank you for your replies! Did either of you do a home pregnancy test at all? I did one after getting the positive blood test and it was negative. I am a little confused. Does this mean I am not pregnant anymore or could it be the medication I am on?

The test might not be strong enough to register the level of HCG in your system, or unfortunately it may have dropped. Sorry to say that I had a HCG level of 41 that rose initially and ended up in a missed miscarriage, and its perfectly normal for you to be searching for positive stories - and they ARE out there!! unfortunately my dr gave me an 80% chance of miscarriage when I wasn't growing at the expected level. I really hope that you are one of the lucky ones!!!
either way join us in the LTTTC threads, there's pregnancy after LTTTC which might be supportive.
Best of luck Kel, I do hope thing go well, and either way, we will be here to help you celebrate or pick up the pieces
I did do a hpt that came up pos but there are meds that throw them out of whack. Also could have been a faulty hpt. I'd trust the bloods. I remember with my miscarriage the hpt did show pos and the line gradually got lighter over a few days.
Hi Kel xxx
My first bloods came back at a level of 23 and my HPT was negative.
I'd done a stim cycle in August which was a BFN. Took September off, I was day cycle 58 very impatient to get AF to do a FET in October And for the life of me I begged every day for AF to come.
I had tested every day using HPT and they were very negative.
I got bloods done after getting strong AF cramping for weeks on end with no AF and a terrifying suprise level of 23 showed up on the beta results.
My levels rose slowly but sure enough I go for my 20 week scan tomorrow
You can do this!! Well done you have come so far, and congratulations on getting a positive beta x be strong
Hi Murraycod, thank you for your encouraging words! I am so glad to hear of your success, congratulations!!! I have been using first response as well and got another negative yesterday, I think I should just stop torturing myself and wait and see what the levels are tomorrow with my blood test!
Hi I'm due to start my 1st ivf cycle and its hard. I have no advice but if you want to talk vent pm me. Ttc in general is draining and as my partner said it feels very clinical and not how it should happen but its worth it. The only other thing I will say is talk to your oh about how you are both coping. Sorry if IV made no sense. Huge huge hugs and I'm praying you get you BFP very soon huni xxxxxx
Thanks for all your kind words. I got my results back today and the hcg levels have dropped to 12 so I guess this embryo didn't want to stay. Pretty devastated, it's funny how you get attached to it as soon as you find out you are pregnant. Just got to wait for my period now before I can try again, still have three frozens left.
