Could you soak them first like you do for kebab sticks?
hi
I am looking to make little heart shaped pie pops for my DS's pre-school class tomorrow for valentines day.
The receipe is nice and simple - short crust pastry and some jam with the pastry cut into heart shapes and put onto lollipop sticks. They're sprinkled with sugar before you cook to kids should like and will put red and white ribbons on the lollipop sticks for give it the warm and fuzzy valentine feel.
My question - the lollipop sticks You cook at 180c for about 12 mins. Recipe doesn't mention it being issue but did trial run with just sticks and they bent. Any suggestions on how I can prevent this happening. Trial i didn't didn't involve the pastry and had done that previous day but just on its own as I didn't have the sticks then.
Thanks

I would use wooden skewers that have the point removed.
I saw these on Pinterest and wondered about the sticks!
I've got some bamboo skewers so might cut them down and use them instead. Won't look same as they'll be brown rather than white but bent will look worse. Was kidspot that I got the link from but sure it has been posted in Pinterest - if I knew how this actually really worked lol! Shame as they looked cute in the photo!
