    Kittens

    Our cat has given birth
what do I need to know?
we have put a heater in her "room" to help but its pretty cold still.

her box to give birth in is a state, blood and merconum have seeped in. it stinks. when can I change it?

she has food, water and fresh litter box. she removed the towels from the box.

Ohhhh they are so cute. Mumma cat did very well for her 1st time. 3 cute fluffy bundles. seem to have latched and drinking. 2 black and white and a torty like mumma. gonna be handsome cats hope its not too hard to find homes for them. and looks like we need to stay put for another 4-6 weeks

Give her something fresh now, it should be fine. Lots of nice warm bedding. Mumma cats may need an extra boost in their food intake too.

    Re: Kittens

    lol will do pics tomorrow.
given her 2 feeds of cat canned fish.
she hasn't stopped purring since I got home and found her with her 1st dead baby.
Do u think she'll remember it? I swear she knows there aren't as many as there was. almost like she was counting them.

Their all cuddled up together now with heater on in the room so its pleasant.
I've only just been able to get the smell if cat birthing off me. musta got squirted during the process

Tonight Im am so in awe of the birthing miracle. it was amazing to be part of it and help her.
Midwives and Doulas and Obs etc have an awesome job.

Polar fleece blanket will be excellent! They are gorgeous!
You will probably need to keep them for at least 6 weeks, if possible its better to keep them until 8-10 weeks (breeders won't sell before 10 weeks) until they can have their first vaccine. I don't know if the mother cats remember lost babies, but it is common to lose a one in a litter (I've seen it happen with both cats and dogs)
Birth truly is a beautiful thing isn't it!
Wishing you all the best with your little litter!
