Not sure, but I use a recipe without lemonade which I've never stuffed up - it's the masterchef lemon and date recipe, I just omit the lemons and dates. Google masterchef scones and it'll come up.
I want to make lemonade scones , cause its easy and no fuss, but I have no lemonade. Could I use soda water?

Yes soda water would work, perhaps add a bit of sugar for the sweetness that you would normally get from the lemonaide. It's mainly the fizz that you need for the rising.
Yep, I have. It's just the bubbles that help it rise I think.
I've never made them with lemonade. I use soda or mineral water and they work perfectly every time. Yum now I want scones!
I use a Donna hay recipe I found on the Internet. It's great! Look up 'Donna hay basic scones' if you're interested.
Damn you women now I have to make scones for arvo tea, LOL!
So, the people who use soda/mineral water - do you add sugar? If yes, how much?
I made them 2 days ago with soda water and they were great! Before DS was born i made them with lemonade all the time but I don't want to give him the sugar in lemonade. To add sweetness I put raw local honey in and I use plain organic spelt flour with added baking soda... nummm num nummmm
Marydean, you can add however much you want, 1 tablespoon of honey should be enough though, (or maybe 1/2 tablespoon of rapadura sugar) if you are having a savory topping then you don't want them too sweet and if you are having a sweet topping like jam and cream then you are getting the sweetness from that.

I've never put sugar in a scone dough but then I still make them the old fashioned way, with butter, milk and flour. None of this lemonade business![]()
I use milk and cream in mine. No fizzy. Although ive often thought of trying it
I don't put sugar in either. Just flour, egg, cream and milk.
