Cleaning jewellery

How do you clean your gold jewellery? I have read a number of ways to do it on Google but am curious about people's personal experience with what works.

I have a number of settings that are difficult to clean using a toothbrush and need something that gets into very small spaces.

I give them to DF and he puts them in the ultrasonic at work. Lol

I just get a bowl of water, a little bit of bicarb and a piece of al foil (the foil is the important bit). but I only own 1 piece of gold, the rest is silver or pewter or steel, so not sure if it works on gold or not.
