It keeps popping up in my Facebook feed and I feel like ranting about it.

I know. It's quite sad. I like how she's used the word 'guilt' there. It's not the hospital system and knObs and medwives that are creating trauma and guilt in women, IT'S HOMEBIRTHIN, BREASTFEEDING HIPPIES AND THEIR DANGEROUS AND SMUG IDEAS ABOUT BIRTH that is the cause.

Well yeah, if we'd all just accept that the best way is to lie back, take whatever drugs are offered and have ac-section as soon as we can, we'd all be al lot better off! And don't go getting any silly ideas in your head that birth can actually be a wonderful, empowering, loving experience, because then you'll just feel guilty when you realise that totally unrealistic and dangerous.



I accidentally stumbled across her a little while ago and was shocked by what I read. Like if you've had a traumatic first birth in a hospital, then that's obviously going to be the best place for any others, because thank god you were at hospital to fix everything that went wrong! No mention that being there may have actually caused it.

I just don't understand how my choices can make anyone feel anything. Surely these women realize they have unresolved issues about their own expectations and possibly the care they received. I cannot look to anyone else to be responsible for my feelings.

It makes me think they are already feeling a degree of guilt themselves. In my experience, anyone who is pro-natural, homebirth etc, aren't putting the information out there to make anyone feel bad. It's just to say hey, this option is here if you want it. I know I could have a homebirth, and as much as I'd love to, my location and lack of funds means it's not really an option. But anyone who tells me it was an option for me certainly isn't making me feel guilty, I've made an informed choice. That's probably more than some women on that site can say!

I love how she always attacks "homebirth midwives" (as she calls them) for being obsessed with making money and nglecting the baby's well being, despite being a private obstetrician working in America... I'd love to know how many babies and mothers she cares for free of charge out of the goodness of her heart.

She's not actually a registered OB anymore, I read. Can't remember why, but she hadn't been in practise for quite a while. Thank goodness, hey?

I think the mentioning of her name is more because she feeds off it. She quotes people, she names people. She really is a nasty piece of work and that's not just because of her opinions. She's not someone you'd want trolling bb.
