Hi ladies, im feeling a little low today and wondering if any one can shed some light on progesterone. Here's my cycle details-
I had a frozen embryo transfer on the 24th of April, I had a day 5 embryo transferred. I started using 2x 200mg progesterone pessaries a day on the day of transfer. I did a hoe pregnancy test 11 dpt and got a positive line. I went for a blood test the following day 12dpt and got the great news that I was pregnant with HCG at 172 and progesterone at 100. I had a repeat test 2 days later which was 14 dpt HCG was 499 and progesterone was 84. The nurse did not tell me the progesterone I had to ask, she said straight up "we don't class that as a drop" so I wasn't worried because she wasn't worried. I have also been told by a specialist that progesterone is hard to test as it waivers through your blood stream so the tests can be inconsistent. I have been feeling great, no bleeding, positive, booked my 7 week scan and then a nurse from the clinic returned my call today regarding a blood form they had sent to me with my ultrasound referral. I was just making sure I didn't need another blood test as I was unsure why it was they sent it to me. Any who she goes on to tell me that every woman's progesterone levels are different and the same thing it's hard to be tested. But when we were talking about how it had dropped (I brought this up) she didn't sound too positive saying if it is dropping there's nothing we can do bout it now so there's probably no point having another blood test because it will probably just make me worry waiting for the results. She was really positive and lovely but now I just don't know???? Im wondering if this one is no good and I've gone from this great high to this horrible low. Im not sure if I should have another blood test to put my mind at ease/put me out of my misery or just wait it out for 2 weeks until my scan? I would love to her anyone's thoughts at this point. TIA to anyone who takes the time to read it and reply xxxx
Thanks Juniper76, I'm just tossing up if I will do another blood test to make sure it hasn't dropped any lower. Good luck with your journey for number 2 x
I only had 1 BT with both my successful pregnancies.
With DD bloods at 16dpo were HCG 305 and Progesterone 80 and with the twins at 16dpo HCG 351 and progesterone 90.
I was on 2 pessaries a day with both pregnancies until 10 weeks, I was told the pessaries don't show in your BT results it is only the naturally produced progesterone that your body in making that will show in the BT, so in reality your progesterone would be higher but can't be tested.
Thanks ladies. Still not feeling too positive. I ended up having a blood test yesterday and I got the results today. HCG 1259. Progesterone 51.9. E2 742. I still feel great, no cramping or bleeding but the rapid progesterone drops can't be good. I have been in contact with my specialist and he has agreed for me to start using 4 pessaries a day now. It's so hard to know what to feel, my HCG is more then doubling and the E2 levels are great but then I just keep thinking back to the progesterone levels. The nurse said to have another blood test on Tuesday. I guess this will give a good idea of what's going on as it would have been 4 days since the last blood test and 3 days of being on the higher progesterone dosage. It's really not what I wanted this weekend being mothers day but I have told my self I'm going to try and put it to the back of my mind and enjoy my day with my daughter and mum. Sometimes I just wonder what it was I did in my past life to deserve so much heartache (I guess we all do). Will keep you all posted, pls send positive thoughts and baby dust my way xxxxx
Congratulations!
I think my p4 levels were only ever in the 40s for the twins. This time around my FS did not even test for it as apparently localized progesterone ie crinone or pessaries don't always give an accurate BT level. I was on two crinone per day though which I think is the equivalent of 4 pessaries. It looks like your hcg is rising nicely though, I hope you can relax with the upped dose. And good luck for your scan xx
Ladies..........Im really needing lots of prays right now! I got some more results today. Great news my progesterone has risen to 98.6 but HCG is only at 3654. So obviously the extra 2 pessaries has helped my progesterone levels but my HCG hasn't doubled twice in the 4 days since my last BT on Friday. The nurse wasn't concerned and said it's still at a good level for how far along in pregnancy I am but I have always known that HCG is supposed to double every 48 hours. So im STILL in limbo and I am hating this!!! My DH thinks im crazy but im going for an ultrasound on Thursday I will be 5 weeks and 6 days. Im aware it could be too early to see much but I've heard its possible t see a heart beat at this stage. I just can't wait for a week and a half not knowing whats going on, im going crazy, im so scared and nervous about the whole thing I just want something to put my mind at ease/put me out of my misery.
Most of me thinks it can't be good but then I know miracles happen so im trying to keep as positive as possible xxx
Great numbers! Once you get past 1000, the doubling time increases significantly. You're looking for a doubling time of more like 72-96 hours once your numbers get up that high.
What Juniper said, the doubling rate time starts to stretch out longer the further you go along.
I have a friend who's numbers didn't double in 72 hours (only went up marginally (like 100) and she didn't hold out much hope but she now has a 6 week old to prove it's not always the case. Also depending on what time you have your bloods taken from the first BT to the next one could make a huge difference in the numbers as well - if there was a 2 hours difference either way that could mean a lot in terms of your HCG number.
I hope you can see something on Thursday to put your mind at ease.
Ladies you have made me feel SOOOOO much better, thank you xxxx I was also goggling last night and read the very same thing! I had the blood test on Friday at 1pm and the blood test Tuesday at 7am. So if i'm correct that's total of 80 hours so the levels have done good according the 72-96 hour doubling time. I am feeling so relieved now! Fingers crossed for the scan tomorrow
Also, it's generally thought that pessaries don't show up in your b/w. I was told that the pessaries (3x 200mg per day) were only adding 10 to the measured level for me. So, hopefully, most of that increase in progesterone is thanks to your body producing more of its own!
Yes I hope so Juniper I have heard a lot about that but its funny my nurses or specialist have never brought that up which you think they would have since I have aways been concerned about my progesterone level. Will keep you all posted tomorrow xxx
Wishing you all the luck tomorrow, hun. Hope you see that beautiful little heartbeat. For the record, we could see two heartbeats clearly at six weeks exactly so fx for 5w6d
Hi ladies. Today went well, the sac is in the uterus, there was also a yolk in it. She did a external and internal ultrasound, there was no heartbeat yet but I am only 5 weeks and 6 days so I wasn't expecting to see it. She said the sac is measuring where it should be for the stage of pregnancy. So now we are just waiting for next Thursdays ultrasound and fingers crossed we will see the little flicker of bubs heart beating away. Thanks for all your support ladies, I will keep you posted once I know more xxxx
Hi ladies, well......................good news!!!!! I had my 7 week scan today and we saw the little heart beating away at 128 bpm. Bub is measuring at 6 weeks and 5 days (2 days off my dates) but with my daughter she measured at 5 weeks and 5 days at the 7 week scan so its no concern to me and the lady said if they did an internal scan she may have got a closer measurement to my dates but she was happy with what she got from the external scan. I am so happy and relieved right now! We feel so very lucky xxxx
