I realised tonight I don't brush my hair often. As a kid I was made to brush my hair a lot. But as an adult I just don't brush it often at all. Only if styling, or after I have washed my hair. I might go days between brushing my hair. It's not knotty or unkept looking. But because I have it back often I generally use my fingers to comb it rather than an actual brush. I was just reading some articles and apparently brushing is bad for your hair. You shouldn't do it a lot. Only when absolutely necessary. And not repeatedly. And always gently. Never drag or rip a brush through your hair apparently this damages the hair and causes split ends. So I checked my hair under the light and I couldn't find one single split end. Now get this. I haven't cut my hair in 6 months! Yet I remember as a child having heaps. So maybe it's true!
I have really long hair, don't brush it OR wash it as often as I feel I should. I thought it would be in terrible condition with the way I treat it, but when I went to the hairdresser after not having it cut for about a year, they said it was actually in good condition.
The cold weather puts me of washing very often, as I'm not one for blow drying so I hate how long it takes to dry in winter. The brushing though is just pure laziness. Shhh
I am very similar to you Zazou, I always have my hair tied back. I use my fingers every day to beaten it and only brush it after I have washed it which is normally every 7 - 10 days. I only use Shampoo too. I have thick wavey hair and if I brush it to much it goes frizzy. DD1 has hair like mine, unfortunately, I need to brush it everyday because she won't leave it tied up and it knots very quickly. I HAVE just started using a soft bristle brush that was recommended to help stop the frizzies.
Every day at least once and if it's loose, a few times. My hair is so fine and knots like that *snaps fingers* to the point where you could call it matted
Every couple of days lol mostly I just tie it back knots and all, some days you can prob see the tangles but I don't care, I only really brush it straight after I wash it
Almost never, only when styling a slick pony or bun.
It's super curly and very thick, I run my fingers through it when I wash it, the day of and the day after washing I usually wear it out and then in a messy bun for 1-2 days (just use my fingers to put it up) before re washing.
Hair dressers always comment on the health of my hair, I also don't go for cuts very often regularly 1-2 years between cuts! A couple of years ago I went platinum blonde from very dark brown, 2 bleachings in 1 week and they were amazed how healthy my hair was after all the abuse.
Everyday usually. I usually wear it up so DD doesn't pull it. After washing I use a wide toothed comb to get any tangles out. I wash it about every 3 days.
I cant remember the last time I did... highschool maybe lol. My hair is dead straight and never really displaces or tangles, I mostly wear it down but wearing it up doesnt seem to affect things. It seems pretty healthy to me; looks good, feels good and doesnt seem to break or fall out.
I wash it about every couple of weeks, just shampoo. I cut my own hair, pretty infrequently ~6mo or so, depends when I feel like a drastic change as I dont cut it just to cut it only when I want to go from long to short or add a fringe.
I brush it when I'm going somewhere. So I brushed it yesterday, didn't want to look like a complete mess while hanging out with jellyfish and heaven.....
I have no plans today so no hair brushing today! I do the same with the girls too - brush it when we are going out, don't when we're not lol
I'm similar to Arimeh, brush it when I'm going somewhere. Usually only if that somewhere is work or something special though. I like the bed head look, so if I wash it I just leave it. Next morning it's all curly and kinky and I actually don't mind it Then if I'm going to work I'll brush and straighten it.
Every day but because I'm drying/styling it I suppose. If I don't wash my hair every morning, by lunch time I feel like it's about ready to get up and walk off my scalp. I hate the feeling of dirty hair. Besides, if I turned up to work with unkempt hair well, it's not a good look for work. I like having neatly styled hair. FWIW last time I went to the hairdresser's she commented on how healthy and soft my hair was. And, having a quick squiz at the ends of my hair, nope, no split ends.
I brush my hair several times a day. It has curl, so gets knotty even when up in a bun. I haven't had a haircut for nearly two years (been growing it out), have no split ends at all.
