I said goobye to my best friend of 16 years yesterday.. :(

I went out the back yesterday and found my cat hunched over, shivering with green and blood spattered foam coming out her mouth, she would not respond to me calling her, so I picked her up and put her on the table to have a look, she tried to walk and fell over...
I wrapped her in a towel and took her straight to the vets...
They took her off to warm her up (she had hypothermia) they said she may have organ failure, we thought she may have eaten snail or rat poison..
Regardless of that, the vet said that it was obvious she was also suffering some type of chronic illness, she had lost a lot of weight, she was not "with" it...
We could pay thousands of $$$ for her to be tested and hospitalised, but she would most likely die anyway... I chose to end her suffering.
It was the hardest thing I have ever done in my life.
I brought her home and sat, howling, cuddling her lifeless body like the baby she always was to me.
DF suggested we take her to my mums and bury her in "cat graveyard" (where all her friends are)
So we did that, last night in the dark, I wrapped her in a baby blanket and placed her in a box, I cut some small tufts of her curly, soft belly fur, to treasure always.

RIP my beautiful Silvey, thank you for being my best friend, for the late night cuddles, for the sound of your voice, for all the happiness and joy you have brought me through out the last 17 years. I will always remember you, your velvety soft paws, the way I used to carry you around in my pocket, snuggle up in my hair at night, I hope you were happy, because you made me so very happy my girl.

Huge hugs, that's an impressive life for a cat, so you are obviously a wonderful, caring pet owner. I lost my girl of 10 years recently too so I know how hard it is.
