    Baby carrier

Lol I find this really funny that I am not into baby wearing at all but DD is so now it seems I am so I'm looking for a reasonably priced baby carrier (not sling) that won't make my shoulders tired and has good back support and not too bulky, I was thinking maybe a Mei tai

I was looking on eBay and there are some mei tai for $30-$40 are they any good ?

A mei tai is great. I got a babyhawk aswell and now a girasol mysol and they are amazing. The thing you want to be careful of is making sure they are safe and stitched together properly. It could be someone is selling theirs cheap cause they no longer need it, but it could also be a badly put together carrier that may be unsafe. Are you on facebook? Maybe join the babywearing buy sell swap group. There's often cheap carriers of all kinds that come up for sale there or someone may be able to direct you to a WAHM type business that makes them.

Beware cheap carriers on eBay. They are normally fakes and poorly made. I agree with Miss_Dee get a good quality one second hand one off the Facebook group. A carrier is a good investment and unlike a pram can keep alot of its value for resale. A baby hawk is a fantastic first carrier for buns under 12 months.

Argh steer clear of eBay there are heaps of fakes on there. Might sound like a good deal but often they are cheap Chinese knock offs that can contain lead and don't meet safety guidelines. We love our Ergo!

I brought an Ergo on the weekend. It's awesome and getting plenty of use already.

I got a 2nd hand ( looks new, only used a few times) manduka on gumtree and it has been fabulous, I can't rave about it enough we use it everyday. I had a HAB but after the newborn stage it wasn't working for us.

We love our Didytai. It's a Mei tai style carrier made from woven Didymos wrap fabric. It's not cheap though but can be used for about the first 2 years from birth.

Ahhh carrier addiction can be expensive
Beware fake ergos too, they can be very poorly constructed. The BWBSS Facebook group has some great threads and documents in how to check legitimacy.
I too love my ergo and Manduca but a good mei tai is my most comfortable to wear and adjust. Ring slings may also be an affordable option?

I am fighting my carrier addiction ATM due to no funds. I do have a close parent caboo, hug a bub, 2 x ring slings, woven wrap and the manduca And Ergo.
I have had the ergo since DS1 was born so its about 5 years old and been through 2 children and still going strong! Though I did buy the manduca about 2 months ago for when DD was a newbie and now I am absolutely in love!
Wovens and ring slings are good but they can take a bit to get the hang of.

I totally agree with the BWBSS fb page but also look up the local baby wearing page and maybe go to a meet to try one on.
I am going to go with the manduca or ergo as you can also back carry and easy to get on quickly
