Periods post mirena removal

I had my mirena removed almost 6 weeks ago, last Thursday I got my first period.
Day 1 was light
Day 2 heavy
Day 3 medium
Dy 4 light/gone

I've been saving accupunture weekly since the day after I had it removed, this period was pretty much pain free, I'm hoping that's due to having the accupunture, he did say that was his aim.

For those who have had theirs removed, how have your periods been?

The first couple I had were light and pain free. The next 6 or so were heavy with some cramping. I then had a baby (DD2) and my period returned when she was 14 months (she's now 2.5). My periods are now very heavy and really quite crampy and painful.
