They'd at least need fresh water and food daily.
How much human interaction do goats need? Say miniature goats?
Would they be okay if they were checked on once a week or do they need daily interaction?
TIA
They'd at least need fresh water and food daily.
Sorry, should have been clearer. Other than the obvious care, do they need human interaction?
For example, if I gave them a water source and feed, would I need to spend time with them on a daily basis to keep them happy and thriving.
(I'm very happy for the answer to the above to be yes)
Or would it be sufficient to throw in some feed once a week, check they're okay and the water source is still okay (dam/creek) and say bubye?
The goats I know were very sociable - they were hand reared and fairly tame so they would get quite noisy if their humans stayed away for too long. They expected pats LOL.
We are looking at getting mini goats - as newborns or youngsters without parents they NEED 3+ bottles a day.
They can also be escape artists so being close & able to keep an eye on them is a good idea.... I have the contact details of a lady who breeds then if you want more specific questions answered![]()
Thanks heaps for the info. It's what I suspected :-)
Yeah, social creatures, so don't have one, have 2 or more for the socialisation.
We have only 1 we rescued her from the pound. She is like a dog and needs attention. But I think because she's one her own. If you have more than 1 then they are finealthough they do escape as we often have neighbors goats scooting around the roads here.
Hi,
interesting question...
We have goats - 75 infact, yep a proper goat farm. And we have had the "pet" ones that have been hand reared. Pets need more interaction, livestock are fine on their own. If they are still having bottles, then they really do like to be around their "mum" (you!) ALOT and will cry for attention. As others have said, they do like company, when we have had solo's being hand reared, we've had one become attached to a sheep, and another to our dog. I think they are a great animal, enjoy!
Thanks heaps everyone. The info is really helpful.
Sounds like another newborn, Pac![]()
