BFP while on OCP.. what are the chances?

So I started back on Brenda after finishing Breastfeeding a couple of months ago. My cycles were fairly even, 31-33 days long which shocked me a little because I have PCOS.. anyway, this month I went back on the pill.

I was on the pill for 10 years before coming off to start our family. DS1 took 4 months to conceive. I didn't have AF at all and was charting my temps etc and conceived him around CD99... for DS2 I was started on Metformin which seemed to help regulate me. I started charting and had proper 33-35 day cycles... 3 months later we were pregnant with DS2.

DH and I DTD once this month... around CD14... but I don't think I was due to ovulate until CD17 (according to previous charted cycles). I was also taking the pill, the same brand that covered me for 10 years...

.... and today I POAS and :BFP:

I'm in shock. I don't know how to tell my husband.. What are the chances of this happening?? I recall my mum saying my Aunt (who is my mum's ID twin... so technically genetically my mum) fell pregnant twice while on the pill. Is this a genetic thing??

How do I explain this to my husband??

I've never heard of it being genetic but nothing would surprise me. I know of quite a few who have fallen PG on the OCP including my mother - twice!

I've heard of a few people falling pregnant on the pill, it's certainly not 100%.

I fell pg with dd1 on the pill so it can happen..

it took me about a week to come out of denial, and another couple of days before i told dh. good luck.

My Sister fell pregnant 3 times while on the pill

yep it happens, I know lots of 'pill' babies!! I hope it goes well telling hubby!!
