    Help me find some...

    Shorts for DD1.
She is extraordinarily tall and is in size 10. Short shorts look like undies on her.

I'm looking for longer shorts that I can buy online as we are remote.

Oh and even though she's in tween sizes, she's only 7 so something age appropriate too.

    Help please!

We had similar problems with DD1 a couple of years ago, she was quite tall & long in the waist. I resorted to urban angel (the tween part of pumpkin patch) for a while as they seemed to have a bit a stretch & elastication which improved the fit, and a range of lengths.

The other thing you can do is get layering - leggings etc under shorts & skirts. Same goes for tops, which seem to get ridiculously short in the tween clothes ranges. Having some longer tanks etc to wear underneath can make all the difference.

Kim Seed Heritage do a 'girl' range i.e tween sizing.

Charlie and Me has a girl's range, up to size 10. They have some really sweet longer shorts.

ETA check out the Iconic too, they have lots of kids brands and great sales.

Thanks girls I will check those out.

Sadly though MD it's just too hot here in central Australia to layer anything.

Oh I could have written this myself, DD is 7 as well and also super tall.

She's happy enough in leggings with a t shirt but she has a couple of pairs of shorts that were DS's which seem to fit well and are longer than those in the girls sections.

    Two ideas.
Can you find a pattern and sew some yourself? That way you can alter the leg length. I can't sew well, but perhaps you can pay someone you know to do it.
Does she have great jeans that are a bit old and you could hack off the leg and make shorts?

Funky curtain type material, basic pattern & elastic for around the top. Easy to make, pattern easy to draft too.

I can sew and have plenty of fabric that she loves, but she's just not happy with the patterns I can find....love that she wants to define a style, but finding it tricky lol. There are a couple of longer denim ones at Target here, but she won't wear denim of course

toomanyshoes, she does wear leggings a lot too. About to go and replace all of hers infact as they've been worn to death and I'd just love to find something that looked nice to go out as she won't wear dresses either lol.

Plus now I'm in trouble because Pumpkin Patch, Seed and The iconic have awesome stuff for DD2...not that she needs any new clothes lol.

Would she wear board shorts from the boy's department?

Nope. Thought I was really clever when I thought of that....buh-bow. She must think I'm a miracle worker. I have enough trouble keeping her in clothes that fit, let alone a picky kiddo's style

i second Charlie and Me. Both my DDs are tall too. at 4yr10mths DD1 is in sizes 6-7 and DD2 (2yr9mths) is in sizes 4-5 )depending on the brand. i find Charlie and Me are quite generous in their sizing so i know they'll get good wear out of their sizes 4-5 6 and 7's

I just measured DD so at 7 she is 130cm

I had another idea, have you tried the miss shop(myer) free fushion(target) type places? DD had some clothes passed down to her that where from those places and seemed to fit pretty well, might be worth a look?

Perhaps try Etsy? Often lots of old-school patterns, might find something she like that you can make easily or adjust the length of.

ETA: And capris? Maybe have a look for some pedal pushers in Miss Shop or Cotton On or similar.

I have the same problem for my girls - not that they are overly tall, but I'd rather my 11 and 9yo daughters didn't have their 'bottom biscuits' hanging out for the world too see, plus the shorts on offer for girls these days just aren't protective enough. I gave up looking for girls clothes and brought boys shorts for them. The last few seasons pastels and bright coloured denim have been in fashion for boys so I've brought some of those and just plain navy drill shorts from big w for around home. Maybe you can buy a plain navy pair of drill shorts and then sew some funky fabric patches on them to brighten them up for her?

Thanks for all the suggestions!! Compiling some pics for her in the morning.
Never thought of ladies smaller sizes, might have a look at those too.

Toomanyshoes, my 7yo is 147cm she's nearly as tall as me!!

I got some knee length denim shorts from Kmart. I think you can buy online now.

Kim I made shorts for DD using an existing pair as a pattern. We've also done jean shorts (cut to a cute 50's style) and bought shorts from op shops as the ones in store are too short IMO.
