Briefly - I'm changing career from communication to social research but it's going to be a while before I'm qualified. In the meantime, I'm pondering the idea of training to teach English as a second language. I haven't done much digging around but the Cert IV course looks very quick - 18 weeks, 1 day a week.

I don't need something that's particularly well paid and I'm happy to work casually providing it's close to home (ie. from Woodend, the western suburbs of Melbourne are quite accessible).

Does anyone work in this field? Is work easy to find? How many hours a week are you working and at what rate?
