    Neighbours barking dog

My neighbour works long hours in the mine. Gone by 5 home at 9/10 at night. He has a dog. A German Shepherd. Its a lovely dog. Its not trained. It sleeps all day and barks ALL NIGHT!

I've tried talking to the owner and the landlord (we share the same landlord who is also related to both of us ). Both of their opinions are I should get up and yell at the dog since Im the one who hears it barking. Which is just dandy, except I didn't want a dog, I don't want a dog and its not my responsibility to get up all night to see to the dog! If we were in a traditional rental arrangement this wouldn't even be expected.

There are so many issues surrounding this dog and his owners lack of responsibility but alas at the moment all I want is a solid nights sleep! What can I do?

You can make a noise complaint to the council. They will then take further action if the issue is not resolved by the owner.

That poor dog Who is looking after it? It can't be getting fed at reasonable hours or ever walked

You're right that it's not your responsibility, so I'djust be going straight to council.

Anyway thanks for the noise complaint tips I am going to action that myself... Goodluck resolving your situation, I feel for you!

    Thanks guys

Teeki that is my other bug bear. It is never walked. He says he does, but pft, when?! I tried walking it for him (with permission) and it has no manners at all. Completely untrained and I don't want to risk an uncontrolled dog that could over power me in minutes with the kids with me. So gave up that idea. And again, don't actually want a dog!

Ladybirdflies its annoying isn't it. I feel for you too. At least ours is only at night, I can't complain about him during the day. Daytime I wouldnt know he was there.

Go to the council and they'll probably ask you to do a noise log on when it barks the most. How annoying.
