Before kids, if I ever put weight on it would be my bottom and thighs. Even when pregnant this is were I put on weight. My tummy, while never completely flat but not flabby either stays the same if I put weight on.
After DD1 and DD2, I lost the weight easily. After DS I lost the weight easily but now I have noticed that by the end of every day I look about 3-4 months pregnant.
Did your body change the way it fat stores after you had kids?
Not yet, but I sure need to work on those tummy muscles tightening up a bit! My core muscles are stretched from three babies. Each pg I've gone to a postnatal exercise class that focuses on the core muscles and I've noticed the difference after a few months. Hoping it does the trick this time too!
Ive only had the one DD and that was over 2 yrs ago, and I too lost the baby weight pretty easily, but the tummy thing is definitely an issue, its my biggest complaint. Esp if im getting towards when AF is due I look at least 3 months preggers.... I also feel that if ive been standing a lot for most the day I get a heaviness sensation in my perineum not like a prolapse or anything but things down there become a bit achey ITMS? Then of course there's the boobs. Skin has become pretty stretched and so the girls are no where near perky anymore
Otherwise im pretty much same old me
Weight has come off easily but I have a pot belly now, compounded by copious amounts of twin skin. As an aside, I'm also lucky enough to have a deformed belly button. I carried the girls really high and now the indent for my belly button is below my belly button. It's awesome!!!
Not to much of a difference re fat after DD1 (16 years ago) but my shoe size & rib circumference changed noticeably. Fat changed significantly after DD2 though. I now have a massive tummy tyre/pot belly thing going on. Stretchies were worse this time & my naval is now crooked and the tummy bit around it is kindy lumpy & uneven. You did ask....
I found the weight much easier to lose after DD. second time around, DS is 14 months and I've been trying to budge the last 5kg for about 6 months. I have fat on my hips and belly that won't budge no matter what I seem to do. I gained roughly 25kg with both pregnancies and I now have saggyish skin on my inner thighs and cellulite from the knees up. Stretch marks on my thighs and tummy and I'm still breastfeeding but last time I stopped they went national geographic on me so no doubt they will be worse second time around haha. My body is so different. I was very slim before kids, I'd say I'm still quite slim just that there have been big changes.
After DS1 everything snapped back within a few weeks... I couldn't believe my luck! My boobs went up a cup size and didn't sag at all - I was thrilled.
This time... I can't get my pre-pregnancy pants over my thighs and bum! My hips have spread, and I actually need to work to get an additional 8kgs off. The tummy... Oh my goodness... When I stand, I look relatively thin and 'normal', and then I sit down, and this pot belly appears.
Thanks for been really honest with me ladies. It is nice to hear that what I see in my body is in also what is now normal with so many others.
I can really relate to the belly button thing, Mine is so odd now. It is wide open. So weird.
Jennifer13. I have been extremely lazy about my stomach muscles after DS. At my 6wk PP check up I was told to see a Physio. Of course I never got around to it so I have started Planking everyday to try and get my core strengthened.
I lost all the weight I gained during my first pg and got back to pre-baby weight, but my hips were wider. I had a dress that fit perfectly before I was pg that felt super tight across the hips afterwards, despite not having a larger belly or anything. As each pg went on though I kept some of the baby weight each time and with DS2 (last baby) being so big and long my stomach has a super awesome overhang now. It puts me off losing weight because I know it will be there regardless of how much I weight but it would look worse if I was skinnier. My only saving grace is that my stomach muscles never separated more than a finger width so that's one less thing to worry about.
The main difference for me has been where I store fat. Prekids, it only went to my thighs and bum, and I had a very flat tummy and average perky boobs (C - D). Postkids, it's all about the pot, and it's really hard to shift. There's some excess skin, but FX that will snap back as the weight slowly but surely goes. Boobs went to an F but are back around DD-E now that the boys have weaned. I think I'll end up back at a D.
No stretch marks here (bizzare, given I had 2 kids in under 2 years, but no complaints!) but I did get a few skin tags. My eyesight got worse after DS1 but better after DS2. And my lactose intolerance disappeared altogether ( same thing happened for my best friend).
My lower back hasn't forgiven me yet. It's not painful day to day, but I can't wear heels for more than a couple of hours without feeling its wrath.
I never got any stretch marks with 1st and 2nd pregnancy but I got one tiny one on my lower belly and two around my belly button with DS. They popped up right at the end so I nearly got away with none.
Forgot to mention my boobs. I was always a full C cup but when DD2 weaned I was between a B & C depending on the bra. My feet are also a tad smaller now too.
I had to google skin tags, while most were fine to look at there are some images I could have done without seeing. DH has a couple, now I know what they are called.
My body is covered in stretchmarks; small white ones on my boobs, thighs, butt, and deep purple ones on my belly and hips. I had an 8cm separation with DD1 and a 9 with DD2. My abdominal muscles are still pretty much on my sides lol. So I have a permanent pot, and at the end of the day I look a fair few months pregnant. My eyesight got worse, my boobs are actually smaller and much lower (probably smaller because DD2 is finally feeding a bit less throughout the day). My back seems to permanently ache since I was pregnant with DD1. As much as I love being pregnant, my body doesn't handle it so well haha.
I have a fair few stretch marks, although they have faded in the last year or so. They're on my thighs, hips, belly and boobs.
I definitely have a pot belly, not so bad in the morning, but pretty noticeable by the end of the day. My hips have spread and my bum is bigger, although that may be due to minimal exercise rather than pregnancy lol. All up I'm probably 5kg heavier than my pre-pregnancy body and being short and (normally) thin, it's noticeable, well for me anyway.
Oh and my poor deflated boobs are now only a B. I was a C pre kids, a D while breastfeeding and now they're poo empty little sacks, probably my biggest complaint!
My body hasn't changed that much, had a pot belly before and have the same pot belly after! My skin on my belly is just softer. Had stretch marks on my boobs from puberty which are still there but no more.
I'm pretty darn lucky really, but can't stand that belly fat roll and have always struggled to be rid of it.
After 4 babies I've been lucky with loosing weight just falls away, BUT the amount of loose skin on my tummy is crazy! Unsure on the degree on muscle seperation (mw confirmed when I had my stitches taken out) was given a special band to wear but was too big. I got all my stretch marks with ds1 from above belly button down is patterned now but no new ones with the next three. Loose skin also makes my tummy sag which at the moment is a pain makes wearing my usual under wear odd as they don't sit where they used too.
Ribs have widened as too my hips.
Boobs changed dramatically, went from a nice 12D/14C to less than a 10A (wear gel inserts so I can fit into a 10A)
The biggest change is af instead of it being reasonable I have it for most of the month every month for 6 years now (only stops when pg so a small break).
Unfortunatly their is only one permanent solution to fix that.
I wouldn't change things though I have my handsome little princes and our gorgeous little princess our life is complete.
