Experiences with laser tattoo removal please :)

I am considering having it done for a small tattoo, about 2 inches by an inch and I'm after some info from ppl who have personally had it done. How many sessions it would take, costs, pain, and results etc.

    Thanks

I had around 6 sessions on my tattoo, probably about the same size as yours, and it faded but it was still very visisble. When I went for the first consult they said between 6 and 8 sessions, after 6 I'd had enough and it was no where near where I wanted it to be. I ended up getting it covered over.

It hurts like hell too, for the size you're probably only looking at having the laser on it for around 2 minutes but that two minutes is insanely painful, even with numbing cream. Think the pain of actually getting the tattoo (which I know is different for everyone) and x it by 50!

You also need to wait between 6 and 8 weeks in between sessions for it to heal before you can go again. If you're looking at 8 sessions, it'll be a long process for you too.

If you have any other questions, happy to answer

I haven't done it myself but apparently in the last couple of years it's completely changed and they use different lasers now which aren't meant to be as painful and you don't have to wait that long in between sessions because it doesn't do the same kind of damage to the skin.

One of my friends just had hers done. She's showing me the results next time I see her in the gym.
    She's pretty pleased with it.
I'm thinking of getting it done but it is quite expensive and my tattoo is in a fairly unobtrusive place so I might just save my money.

Argh Jaycee now I'm completely freaked out! How long ago did you have yours done? Do you know what type of machine they used?

    Zazou,
Do you mind asking your friend what type of machine they used? And if it was painful? And also what a session cost her roughly?
    Thanks

She said the pain was minimal and it will take 6-8 sessions.

I had it done 3-4 years ago. I have no idea what type of machine it was. Things might have changed in the last few years though

It really does depend on the tattoo and your skin type (like anything). I know so many people who have attempted to have them removed. None of them worked. Zazous's friend is the first positive story I've heard. So it may be technology. But even recently I was watching a show and the actual dermatologist said the same thing. It depends on the tattoo, the ink used, the skin type and the age of the tattoo.

    Thanks ladies.
I might be best to get it fixed up rather than removed
