Bleeding nipple
I'm a bit unsure what's going on and if I need to see a dr
DD3 is just over 9 months old and not BF in 8 months. I can still get colostrum/milk out daily from one side. However the past few days it's been a really orange dark colour. Today blood and nothing else came out
Is that anything to worry about?
Squeezing it is habit, nothing to do with feeding etc

Re: Bleeding nipple
Is it sore? I would have thought orange meant an infection?
Do you have any lumps or anything?

Re: Bleeding nipple
Not sore, can't feel and lumps or anything. It's bright red blood now when ever I squeeze (even a light squeeze) and blood pools in the middle.

Re: Bleeding nipple
That doesn't sound good. Can you get to a gp to check it?
Sometimes I would have blood coming out when breastfeeding but that was because a blood vessel burst inside.
I've heard of people having rusty coloured milk too which can be normal when first starting feeding again.

Re: Bleeding nipple
DH reckons I need to see a dr, but I dunno. Thought someone may have a reason it's happening. Not bothering me, I just don't know what's happening lol

Re: Bleeding nipple
i tend to avoid drs, but i would get it checked out. You could try nurse on call, or the ABA and see if they recommend a check up.

I'm much the same, only see a dr if I really need too. Maybe I'll give it a few days and if still bleeding, best get it checked out
