    Sore bum :(

I have had this tummy bug for almost 6 days now. I have never experienced gastro, but suspect i may have mild IBS so have a lot of gas all my life. Anyway my #2's have been watery and sometimes I will go and it's just all gas. I'm getting up 3 times a night it's awful. Funny thing is I don't have cramps or any pains and i feel fine. Having never experienced gastro before I just need to vent about how sore my bottom is! I can't take anymore #2's! I'm sick of the sight of the toilet! Argh

I just started taking some multi vitamins in the hope they might help. Any other suggestions?

I would think if it was actually gastro then you would feel really unwell. Whenever I have had gastro there is no mistaking it and it is extremely hard to function.
I suggest you go to the doctor and get checked because I think it may be something else.
Maybe get a probiotic to take and see if that helps ? Good luck

Thanks Jahzara, yeah don't think it's gastro. I like my doctor, but I'm not entirely confident with her diagnosis. I don't have a great GP unfortunately since we moved a few years back. If it continues I shall see her though. But hopefully this doesn't continue! I'm having nightmares about the toilet

    Sore bum :(

Massive hugs. Yes the bum soreness is awful. Try a bath with some bicarb & some nappy cream around the external if that helps.

Activated charcoal caps will help with runny poos, absorb any toxins in your bowel, and relieve the gas.

In the meantime I have a regimen I adopt whenever my bowels get out of whack, it might be worth trying:
    1. Probiotic: you need a product that says rhamnosus (that's the gastro-buster) AND boullardii (that's the healer).
    2. Bovine colostrum. I use a capsule product called Travellan - it has some kind of magic antibodies or something, it works to prevent gastro when you're travelling, it's magic stuff.
    3. A very gentle fibre-product. I use the fibresure stuff which dissolves into food & drink. It's made out of chicory root, it's a pre-biotic, and adding that little bit more gentle fibre will help slow everything down. I would steer clear of bran & psyllium for now as they can irritate when you're not well.

If it goes on too much longer, you might need to see a dr to get it checked out.

Thanks Marydean, always good info Will head to the chemist tomorrow and see what I can find. In the meantime my SIL gave me some gastro-stop tablets (they say for loose bowel movements too) so i've just taken 2 of those. FX!

You could actually be constipated. Basically you can be so blocked that all that makes it through is either gas or runny.

    Re: Sore bum :(

I think maybe if you were that constipated you would feel very constipated and quite uncomfortable down there.....I have been that constipated before and there is no way I wouldn't have noticed the sensation of it being THAT clogged up, it was horrible! But I don't know enough about it to know if you could get that that point and not feel it?
You said you feel fine now but have you had any pain or felt off at any time since it started? Just wondering if it started as gastro but your bowel hasn't sorted itself out yet, it can take a couple weeks to be totally back to normal even after you feel well.

Not true. Some people can be very constipated and just not feel it that same as others. It is different for everyone.

    Re: Sore bum :(

It probably isn't likely for me. I say this only because I have always had frequent soft stools and gas (this is why I suspect mild IBS) But never like this. I haven't needed to go to the loo since I took the gastro-stop/ But I am now eating dinner so should know in about half hour lol.
