    Blocked Ears

My ears are completely blocked from a cold. It's driving me insane and I can hardly hear. I'm willing to try anything right now so what are your best tips for unblocking an ear?

    Re: Blocked Ears

Chew gum. Take a decongestant medicine (eg dimetapp) or use a nasal spray like beconase (which helps open up your ear tubes). Hot steamy showers or a hot face washer on your face/sinuses. But, most of all, chew gum.

Thanks MD I have done all of those except for chew gum as I of course don't have any when I really need it! Im trying to work up the energy to go get some (if the dizziness stops for long enough to allow me to drive)

Sounds awful, I hope you're feeling better soon. Another trick a dr taught me is to hold your nose shut with your fingers, and swallow 3 times. Do this as often as you can remember, it gets the gunk draining.

    Re: Blocked Ears

Em you have my sympathy, I had a middle ear infection 2 weeks ago, luckily I was well enough to still have my c section last Friday but my ears are still ringing now and the left one still feels blocked. I know of a few people who have had the same thing recently and apparently it can take weeks to fully clear

    Re: Blocked Ears

Congrats on your new baby Mumma T! It has been hard enough dealing with my 10 month old whilst feeling like this so I think you are quite amazing caring for a newborn and a toddler whilst recovering from a c-section

I'm thankfully feeling a lot better than I was the other day. My ears aren't fully clear yet but that horrible pressure feeling has eased off. It was the best feeling when they finally popped. Not looking too forward to the prospect of it hanging around for a couple of weeks though. I used to be someone who didn't get many colds but this year I seem to get one every month so I'm a tad over it.
