    Shoes for boys

I'm looking for quality shoes for DS that will last.

They all get a new, good pair at the start of the year & if they desperately need to be replaced before the year is out they get what I can afford at the time.

DD1 goes through shoes due to being heavily involved in sports, but they still usually last as well as I expect. DS just seems to wear his right out. He wears his day in, day out though. The girls swap & change shoes when not at school.

Last year he had the basic Nikes. Girls both had court shoes for netball/basketball, so I did pay a little more for theirs. But DS doesn't need specific shoes, he has footy boots for footy & will sometimes play netta, but nothing to require anything more than basic runners.

But I want to try find something that will last a bit better. Target ones are lucky to last 3 months. The Nikes he did wear for the year, but they are well & truly done now & probably haven't had proper support in them for a few months.

Any suggestion on a brand/shoe that might last a bit better?

My DD1 used to wear her shoes down until I explained to her about picking your feet up & not scraping them or kicking them on the concrete/asphalt helps keep them nice for longer. We talked about it one day & then I took her outside with some chalk & we scraped the chalk along a few different surfaces & observed how quickly it chewed up the chalk. The light bulb went off and her shoes started lasting longer after that.

I find the ascent ones from the athletes foot last forever. My kids are pretty hard on shoes and even these ones held up for the entire year - they ended up growing out of them before they wore them out. They are designed like a sneaker as well so suitable for normal palyground activities etc. They are expensive at $100, but worth every cent of that.

I'll look them up. See if there are any sales anywhere.
And see how he's walking on them. It's not just the soles though. Velcro pulling away etc. But he's done plenty of puddle jumping too. That's not helping any.

We love Bobux. Excellent quality and flexible soles with lots of width for toes to move around.

I've just bought the ascent ones from athletes foot. Nearly at end of term one and they still look pretty good. My 6 yo is terrible at scuffing and wearing out his shoes so hoping these ones last awhile!

I have found DC shoes to be the best wearing for my son. He used to wear New Balance and Ascent but still wore them out every term, the DCs lasted him all year.
