NEG BLOOD TEST 9 DPO, POSTIVE HPTS (lots) 10 DPO and 11DPO

    Hi guys

Has anyone had a negative blood test followed by several positive HPTs?

I had a blood test sat am (9DPO). It came back under 5 but I dont know the exact levels. From Sun am (10DPO) I have been getting positives on lullaby conceptions midstream (ultra sensitive). Ive done lots of them and they are all coming up with pink positives (although they are faint you can still easily see them). I also got a faint positive on discover onestep and this morning a faint positive on the lullaby conceptions dip test (i think it measures from about 20 HCG). The only negative was the clearblue digital but that only measures from 50 HCG. I even had a very faint positive come up straight away on fortel ultra although its very very faint and in my experience, these tests arent very good until after AF due even though fortel says its ultra sensitive.

I had another blood test today and will get the results later but I just worndered if maybe my blood test at 9DPO was too early and thats why it was negative. Has anyone else had this experience?

I cant think of any other reason why I am getting all positives on my HPTS.

I have been testing since 5 or 6 DPO so I know what negatives, evap lines look like etc and the positives I have been getting definitely arent evap lines as they come up before the ten min timeframe and are coloured not just grey.

Im feeling really down about the blood test so I would love some reassurance if anyone has had the same experience.

ps i also had a really bad lower back ache and pelvic region ache last night. i dont normlly get pains like that.

    Thanks

Bek, levels don't increase until implantation and even then they can take a day or two to come up enough for a +ve. I think ur UTD and wish you goodluck for the new BT! I am sure it will be +ve with a lge level and litterally screaming out BFP!!!!!!!!!!!

Bek - wishing you the best of luck for some great blood results, it may have just been a matter of it still being very early to give you a define +ve result. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you.

    Hi Becstar,

It is highly likely that you are pregnant.
I had a similar thing happen to me just a few weeks ago. I had 2 HPT (fortel early), very feint, but definately positive. I had a blood test the next day HCG <2, therefore considered negative. I thought AF was due when I tested but I miscalculated my dates so I was more likely only about a week past ovulation. Dates are still to be confirmed at an ultrasound this coming friday. Ihad another blood test 5 days later and HCG was 29 which indicates i ovulated later than normal. I was probably not quite 4 weeks with that BT. SO the moral of the story with me is, the HPT was more reliable than the blood test!!!!! Therefore, it could be with you also! Let me know how your blood test today turns out. Good Luck

    Hi Bek,
It will depend on the pathology centre what their level of negative is. The centre I have experience with call a negative less than 2miu/L.

Implantation occurs usually between 5 - 10 dpo. If you had a blood test on Saturday that was less than 5 it is very possible that you are pregnant. HCG in a healthy pregnancy generally doubles every couple of days in the first weeks of pregnancy. I know LUllaby's ultra sensitive tests are very accurate (in my experience) and that they measure 10miu/L. So if you were say 3 miu/L on Saturday it is very possible that you were close to 10miu/L on Sunday if you had conceived.

I have used LOTS (man have I used LOTS!!!!) of Lullaby HPT's and I have never received a false positive - I would think it very unlikely that these tests are not detecting HCG. Given you have used other brands as well...

Please let us know when your results come in. I have everything crossed for you!

Thanks so much to everyone for their replies. i have all my fingers and toes crossed. my doctor said to ring at 5pm for my new blood results so i really hope its positive.

i spoke to the lab who tested my first lot of results and they said their cut off level is 5 and their machine cant detect anything lower than 5, so it could have been 4 and the machine wouldnt have detected it.

i also just did another LC HPT with sensitivty of 20 and it was clearly positive (although took about 5 mins to reach full strength positive) - so i am hopeful.

anyway, will let you know what happens. thanks for all your support.

hi everyone, its Bekstar here. just wanted to give you an update. finally got my second lot of blood test results this am and definitely pregnant! HCG level was 36 which explains why I got a BFN on saturday's blood test but a BFP on monday's blood test. am back in to see the doc this pm but all looking good. thanks again for all your support everyone.

Beccas (Bekstar - I had two log on names because I lost my password for the Beccas one but now back to using Beccas)

ps can I just say that having used about 500 pregnancy tests in the last few days, I highly recommend lullaby conceptions midstream ultra senstive tests. the other test which i found to be good were the discover brand. fortel ultra, as usual, terrible!

hi me again boring you all with updates. the doctor said the HCG level was a bit lower than they like to see (mine 36, normal range 40 +) so she has done another blood test today (that's 3 blood tests in 4 days!) She said definitely should all be fine but just wants to check levels are doubling ok. Will report back tomorrow when I get the results.

    thanks guys!
