34 wks -2/5 engaged. Is this early? Alan?!

    Hi,

Last week at my midwives appt I was (34+2) she said I was 2/5 engaged and was quite surprised. I just wondered if this is a sign of an early birth or if it is quite common at this stage.
The thing is since then I'm sure the baby has gone even lower because I can see my top two ribs now and I haven't been able to see them all pregnancy! Also I am having pretty constant but very dull period type pains underneath my bump in my pelvis area.

    Hi there,

You sound like you're having the same type of pain I'm experiencing! I'm 35 weeks and I felt bubs engage at about 3am this morning (pretty weird and painful) and since then I have been getting period like pain, cramping and headaches. It's quite sore actually. My abdomen is really tight, but not the rest of my tummy, so I don't think it's BH. Hang in there!

I was 2/5 at 34 weeks then 5/5 at 36 weeks. Im due tomorrow, so not really a sign for me. I posted a thread back then asking other BB's how long after they became fully engaged did they go into labour and most went over due!

Sorry, I know how you feel, I got excited and thought for sure i would go early, but no, still waiting!

Good Luck, you might be different!

At my 28 weeks appt i was either 1/5 or 5/5ths engaged, i only remmebr her saying something about 5ths. Looking at my chart it looks like 5/5ths engaged ( though can that be right if Babushka Doll went from 2/5 to 5/5 as i assumed i was at the lowest end of the scale). The midwife didn't seem very concerned, i thought to myself it seemed a tad early but since she said it was normal i didn't worry. My tummy has definately gotten very tight & sore at times though constant. On the weekend i had some stabbing apin in my vaginia (sp), whic h went away after i laid down for about 1/2hr or so. But I am only 30 weeks tomorrow, so i'll be metioning it to the ob at Friday's appt.

    Hi Sarah
It is not unusual for a first baby to engage early. It does not mean that you will give birth early

    Thankyou everyone for those replies.

I think I am wishful thinking that I might meet my bub a week or so early!! I have to learn to be more patient!

What do you mean by - you felt bubs engage? Last week i had a few days of feeling like it was really pushing down - was that the feeling?
