Stitch feeling - is this bub's kicking?

    Hi guys,

The last two days or so I have been feeling every so often a stitch like feeling about one inch to the left of my bellybutton. It almost stopped me mid stride. I asked a few girls at work if this is what it feels like when bubs moves but they say no its a bubble feelinng, which I think I have been getting (still not sure if it is wind though!). I called my dr and he thinks that it would be the baby kicking.

Does it feel like this for anyone else?

    Hi Lesh
It could be either. But I think it is more likely to be your uterus and ligaments stretching

I agree with Alan. When you first feel your baby it feels "swishy", "like butterflies", "like gas but you don't foof", "like bubbles popping". That stitch feeling is common and I think most women have it but it is generally thought to be the ligaments that support your uterus stretching. Some women get a sore belly button too as this happens... I have all three right now!

Good luck with it all - us Mamas play such a guessing game don't we... But it all sounds like things are growing beautifully...

    Hi,
I had a similar thing and asked the dr he said the same as Alan... everything stretching. I get it in different spots now, in a V from my pubic bone area up across either side of my belly. It has got a lot worse and I couldn't move, it hurt so bad. Now it happens a lot less often and it doesn't last as long.
    Hope it helps!

At 17 weeks, I think it sounds more like your uterus stretching. I remember having the very same feeling when I was around 17 weeks. As for the baby kicks, for me, it really started around 19 weeks. Now, I can actually see my baby's kicks from the outside of my belly. Good luck!

It sounds like round ligament pain, I have had this really bad. Sometimes it hurts so much I can't stand up straight!
Baby kicking wouldn't be painful (yet :P)

I agree it sounds like stretching. When i first started feeling bub move it felt kind of like a grumbling stomach, except where the baby is. Now they are a lot stronger and more defined.

I have a constant feeling of the the stitch on my right side only. I think it is just a muscle thing, but I am going to the doctor tomorrow, just to be sure. The pain is a bit sharper when I am walking. When I sit down it is a dull ache. I hope it is nothing serious.

Thanks guys the stitch feeling has stopped now so im putting it down to ligament stretching as you suggested. I have been having a few bubble feelings which I think may be the baby but still not 100% certain!

I have my 19wk scan tomorrow, so will be able to rest assured after that, I still don't feel like I'm having a baby! My belly is a little out there but not as large as some friends and givenI I dont think (!) I have felt bubs yet it all does not seem real! I will be able to relax a little more after I see that heartbeat tomorrow hopefully!

Only one more night to come to an agreement with hubby over whether or not to find out what we are having tomorrow!

Yes, me too. It stopped. The doctor couldn't see any problems either... phew!
